Dear Nigerians (in Nigeria) planning to relocate to the UK for greener pastures, please take note:

Anyone in the UK asking you to bring money to “buy” a work visa/Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) is a scammer.

Do not pay anyone with the belief that they will secure a UK work visa for you. You are very unlikely to recover your money.

There are already hundreds of people in the UK with expired visas who fell victim to these scams. Many of them paid huge sums, got nothing in return, and are now in very difficult situations — unable to recover their money or regularise their stay.

Now imagine how much harder it would be for someone still in Nigeria.

And here’s the most alarming part: you cannot easily report these scammers to UK authorities, because paying an individual for a visa or sponsorship is itself illegal.

So you risk losing your money and also putting yourself in legal trouble.

Please be careful.
Do your due diligence.
Use only legitimate and verified routes.

Any route you want to use to relocate to the UK, there is useful information about that route on the official website of the UK government.

Do not let desperation cost you everything.

If you are suffering from poor health and you have no support network in the UK, do not leave your home country if you don’t want to die young.

Times are changing; immigration rules and policies are tougher, and it is getting harder to find jobs or pay for accommodation. The stress can break you or kill you.
The rates at which our people are dying are huge. Some are not being publicized. Some have no right to live in the UK and cannot use the NHS. They don’t get help until it is too late because some of them don’t want to draw the attention of immigration authorities.

Also, for those who have a support network, do not overwork yourself. Whether you are a man or a woman, it is not worth losing your life to fend for your family. The dead are the losers, and your family will sort itself out. These youthful deaths are becoming too regular.

Do not try to buy a house in the UK within two years of entering the UK, because others are buying, and do not try to complete a mansion in your home country within a few months of getting here. Pounds sterling are heavy, but your body is biological. It may snap.
