Well, one of the greatest minds in the world should not be claimed by croats as one of their own because that not only is not true, but they also killed his extended family in WW2 just because they are Serbs. In 1999, Bill Clinton ordered NATO airstrikes against Yugoslavia without UNSC approval. Madeleine Albright was Secretary of State, and General Wesley Clark commanded NATO forces.

What followed? Billions in military contracts, infrastructure projects, and commercial opportunities involving American corporations and former officials.

💰 HALLIBURTON / KBR: $2.168 BILLION

While Clinton was bombing Serbia, Dick Cheney was CEO of Halliburton. Its Brown & Root subsidiary built and supported U.S. military installations, including Camp Bondsteel.

GAO records document $2.168 billion in Balkans-wide contract costs from 1996–2000, including Bosnia and operations predating the Kosovo war. The contracts provided a 1% base fee plus performance awards of up to 8%.

KBR continued operating Bondsteel for decades, securing a $118 million support contract in 2011, with a $245 million maximum capacity.

🏗️ BECHTEL–ENKA: $1.83 BILLION

American construction giant Bechtel and Turkish partner ENKA built Kosovo’s major highways:

• Route 7: €981 million estimated project cost.
• Route 6: €600 million construction contract.

U.S. Ambassador Christopher Dell advocated for the first highway project, then subsequently joined Bechtel. Investigative journalists documented concerns about the procurement process.

🇺🇸 MADELEINE ALBRIGHT: KOSOVO TELECOM

After advocating NATO intervention, Albright developed business interests involving Kosovo telecommunications operator IPKO.

Her investment network subsequently pursued a 75% stake in Kosovo’s state telecom company. The bid was withdrawn in 2013. Her actual investment profits remain unverified.

⛏️ GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: KOSOVO COAL

The former NATO commander later chaired Envidity Energy, which pursued exploration rights involving Kosovo’s estimated 12 billion tonnes of lignite resources.

The proposed development involved potentially billions in investment. No realized mining profits have been established.

⚡ CONTOURGLOBAL: $23.3 MILLION

The U.S.-founded energy company pursued a Kosovo coal power plant that was never completed. Its Kosovo subsidiary nevertheless obtained a €20.05 million arbitration award.
