Interislander

Proudly New Zealand's original Cook Strait ferry - Interislander has been connecting the North and South Islands for nearly 60 years!

[Interislander @interislander]

Interislander apologises, the Kaitaki 8.45am sailing Thursday 14th April is delayed.

You will now depart at approximately 12.45pm.
As this is approximate only we request that you be checked in by 11.30am.

Vehicle check in will open at 9.30am.

[Interislander @interislander]

Interislander no longer requires a vaccine pass or COVID test to travel, as of 6th April. Mask wearing is still required for all passengers and staff while in the terminal and on board, unless you are eating or drinking.

@WildBayNZ @GreatJourneysNZ Glad to see you enjoyed the scenic route! ⛴️

[Interislander @interislander]

@saurimo44 Thanks for your understanding and positive feedback John - we really appreciate it. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

This requirement applies to all travellers aged 12 years, 3 months and up. Also, from 15 December, access to the terminals in Wellington and Picton will also be restricted to passengers travelling on the day.

Is it too early to crack out the tinsel?🤔🎄 The team at our Picton Terminal have already set up the tree so it's time for us to get in the spirit.🐬

Proposed changes include a new wharf, an upgraded terminal building and well-designed surrounds for parking, people and the safe movement of vehicles. Protection for the Kaiwharawhara Stream and marine environment is a big part of the work.

[Interislander @interislander]

Consultation on proposed changes to the Interislander ferry terminal at Kaiwharawhara closes Tuesday 30 November, so jump online and tell us what you think.

Where's your favourite spot in Welly to stop and take in the view? Provided it's "on a good day" of course...😅🐬

A big thanks to Johnny for sharing this epic snap of beautiful Wellington Harbour and beyond.

[Interislander @interislander]

That's one way of getting on board😅🚁 We were glad to help out @NZAirForce and @nzpolice in their training exercise last week. It was a bit more excitement than we're used to, though.

1/2 Training on the Interislander🎶 Our @NZAirForce NH90 helicopter crews from No. 3 Squadron have teamed up with the @nzpolice Special Tactics Group, @Interislander, and @WgtnFree for a counter-terrorism exercise.

Due to a mechanical issue, Aratere is required to take an alternative route and her journey will be longer than usual.

[Interislander @interislander]

Aratere will enter and exit Queen Charlotte Sound through the northern entrance. Hence, we expect the journey to take about 45 minutes longer than scheduled. We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Want to know what's happening to our Wellington terminal? Join us at 7:30pm tomorrow for a live chat and Q&A.

We’ll even give you a sneak preview of what the new, diesel/battery-hybrid ferries have in store. Let us know if you're planning to tune in!

Classic Kiwi spring weather!😅🌊💨 This time of year is usually a typical case of 'four seasons in one day'. Thanks to Kate for sharing this journey, including some staunch passengers braving the famous Cook Strait wind.
