Tekkusai Apex, Lockon Odyssey & 1337gear Miu - Quick Comparison

Reference: Gwolves Fenrir Pro w/ x4 Xraypad U9 Air 6.5mm

Please note that you should take into consideration that this is very subjective.
I will define glide off subjective feeling of resistance and overall speed during swipes and general movement of the mouse.
For simplicity, I will use Low, Medium & High definitions for subjective measurements.

Tekkusai Apex

Texture: Medium - Can be described as a very fine grit sand. Dry and not sticky. Sleeve not necessary.
Glide: High with very low to no resistance - I wouldn't describe the Apex as an air hockey table; stopping still feels very manageable. On a dime would require some semblance of raw control. Low pushdown feedback.

Lockon Odyssey

Texture: Medium - Noticeable on skates. Dry, low-medium stick. Sleeve advisable if there is a lot of skin contact and/or perspiration.
Glide: Medium Speed with low resistance - texture application gives you a good sense of stopping. Medium pushdown feedback.

1337gear Miu

Texture: Very Low - Smooth, matte-like. Moist, not sticky. Sleeve not necessary unless there is perspiration.
Glide: Medium speed with medium resistance - felt very smooth and controlled. Medium pushdown feedback.

These pads were each used in a variety of games and all I can really say for a defining difference would be in how much resistance you want. For example: wide flicks with high stability would probably prefer the 1337gear Miu, more speed with a slight impact to control (but still manageable) can lean towards the Lockon Odyssey, and for pure raw control the Tekkusai Apex. One can argue that the resistance on the 1337gear Miu would be more beneficial for tactFPS like CS or the raw feel of the Tekkusai Apex for tracking games like The Finals, but I find that in either case - it still boils down to your preference. Now I realize that isn't particularly helpful when it comes to a shopping angle, I'd like to emphasize the fact that any peripheral just boils down to preferences and that you shouldn't restrict yourself to certain "guidelines". I can't really upsell a pad over another; even though one can argue all glasspads falls into a certain category of speed compared to cloth, they still each have their own unique traits - just like cloth mousepads. I will say though if you're looking for a direct transition from cloth to glass, glasspads with noted resistance with slower skates would probably be the safest bet in terms of similarity from a no preference-set angle. Also, please note that the interaction between skates and glasspads can significantly change the feel of said pad. Last glasspad (maybe...) I'm getting for the year is probably the GLSSWRKS Zofia just because my prior preference was towards controlled pads. I still rotate between the pads listed above quite often and they are all pretty fun experiences nonetheless. PSPSPS, don't be too afraid of speed or vice versa - even with the bias towards control I've been using the Tekkusai Apex and the juxtaposition is quite fun, can really experiment and give insight with your habits pertaining to raw control and aiming habits.

From cloth to glass + Gwolves Fenrir Pro. Yap, quick review and experiences.

I was performing relatively well and consistently with my previous peripherals (Hitscan Hyperlight & LGG Saturn), but despite back to back to back perfect tracker scores and good results across the FPS games I play.. I was bored? Maybe if I was scrimming often and had a bigger goal to chase this wouldn't be the case. As of recent I simply don't have the time to be hypercompetitive and grind. I still practice when I can - for the fun of learning and improving, but felt uninspired and the FPS genre started to become stale to me. I'd rather spend my time with my friends and that is typically a more casual gaming atmosphere, but I still needed a compromise to continue enjoying playing games. Decided that a dramatic change to full fingertip and glass would be a fun learning experience and the result was very enjoyable and fulfilling.

Now the problem is which glasspad? I've tried a variety of cloth ranging from mud to speed and a couple hardpads, but had a good idea of what I was getting into for each of those purchases. The glass market, however, is an entirely different ecosystem that is filled with a lot of competing brands and fomo practice. How control and speed are defined for glass and to what degree of difference between all these products makes blind buying a challenge, especially if a person was just looking to purchase a "one-and-done". After a lot of research, I decided to pick up a couple balanced marketed pads to have as a baseline: Lockon Odyssey and 1337gear Miu. I was pleasantly surprised by both of them as entries into glass.

I won't be posting pictures nor specifics because there are plenty of reviewers that do a great job covering those points or you can just visit the manufacturer website(s).

For my reference mouse/skates I primarily used a Gwolves Fenrir Pro with Xraypad U9 Air (4x6.5mm). Great mouse btw. I was a bit hesitant on the 175$ pricetag especially hearing about the history of Gwolves QC issues, but the unit I received is excellent. No qualms about the price after receiving.

Build quality - arguably the best out of my collection considering the size and how light it is. zero issues.
L/R switch implementation - tactile with very minimal pre and post travel, very minimal L/R button play, 0ms debounce settings without doubleclicking.
Side buttons - tactile, don't interfere with my grip nor do they actuate without intent.
Scroll wheel - tactile, has less notches/steps compared to most other mice, but it is a nonissue for my use cases, scroll click also tactile, does not compromise mouse movement on actuation.
Sensor - Updated to 3955.
Battery - At 2k with competitive mode and long distance on, idk, give or take 20 hours of heavy use? I haven't kept track tbh. Happy overall.
Shape - I like it. 17.5x9cm hands.

I swapped frequently between the Lockon Odyssey and the 1337gear Miu over the span of a couple weeks and transitioning into both of them from a LGG Saturn was very easy. Same sensitivity / very slightly lowered. CS2, Valorant, The Finals with a lot of variety and general use mixed between - performed better than I did compared to cloth. I enjoyed both equally and I can't really choose one over the other tbh, they each have their pros. For a subjective direct comparison: The Lockon Odyssey had less static and dynamic friction compared to the 1337gear Miu - noticeable, but not a lot (10%?) The major difference is the textured glide on the Odyssey and a very smooth glide on the Miu. Humidity did not affect the glide on either pad. I use both pads sleeveless and stick was largely a nonissue on the Miu, whereas for the Odyssey a sleeve might be necessary if you have a lot of skin contact and perspiration. I really can not recommend one over the other for specific use cases; they are both great balanced pads and you would be happy with either for mixed usage/game genres.

I apologize for not having further depth and measurable tests; I just wanted to do a simpler subjective view and you can find plenty of indepth reviews elsewhere. Also awaiting a Tekkusai Apex, potentially a GLSSWRKS Polarity, GLSSWRKS Zofia and maybe picking up a smooth speed type. Once I have more glasspads, I will have a better reference point for direct comparisons and tests for more objective thoughts :).
