Let’s say you boarded a plane headed to New York City. After takeoff, it suddenly dawns on you: “Wait—it’s January. It’s freezing there.” So you call the flight attendant over and ask, “Could we change the destination to Maui instead?”

Of course, that’s not going to happen. You determine your destination before the flight begins—not after you’re already in the air.

The same is true spiritually. In this life, we decide where we will spend the afterlife. That decision is not made after death, but before it.
