Today we said our goodbyes to our much valued and cherished BSL/Interpreter, Naomi Oldham. It was lovely and moving service about how much she achieved.
Naomi was much loved and her kindness, compassion and dedication to the community she served will be greatly missed by all who knew her or worked with her.
It is with immense sadness that we have to announce the passing of one of our BSL Interpreters, Naomi Oldham. iNet Interpreting and everyone at Leicester Deaf Centre are shocked at this sudden loss and deeply mourn her unexpected passing.
Naomi was a skilled and compassionate interpreter and volunteered many hours of her time pro bono for the Deaf Community. She was taken suddenly very ill at the VLP Conference on Saturday 21st September and passed away in the early hours of Tuesday 24th September 2024.
The Fees Guidance Survey 2024 closes tonight. It takes 5 minutes, and we are especially keen to have more feedback from TSLIs and members outside London. Check your spam if the email isn't in your inbox. Many thanks to everyone who has filled it in so far. #StrongerTogether
You may be aware that there is a doctor strike at University Hospitals Leicester but appointments are still going ahead unless you have been told it is cancelled. If it is cancelled, please let us know in case they don't inform us.
Yesterday was #InterpreterAppreciationDay apparently. This is just so you know what we do when we're 'signing' in your meeting, event, performance. This is just the Eng to BSL bit. The #BSL to Eng, cross cultural, environment specific, etc stuff is extra.
