Our dev community exists to stay close to the people we build for- developers.
In July, we hosted members at our Lagos HQ for great conversations, feedback on our API Marketplace, and a chat with Interswitch's Engineers.
What we suggest instead: leave the chat tab and bring AI into the repo, where it can see your code. Pick one loop. Write every lesson down as a skill so nobody learns it twice. Plan, then build.
We gave hundreds of engineers access to AI, then checked. Most landed at L2: daily use for some tasks, getting only a fraction of the value.
Here are common mistakes developers make with AI adoption and what we suggest instead.
🧵
Treat the plan as a spec: requirements written so you can test them, not paragraphs of hope.
The AI builds from it and later, it becomes the documentation.
Are we building for impact or are we building for continuity?
This past one year as Community Lead at Interswitch Developer Community, FUTO has taught me to build for both.🥂
We and the good people @Cafeonenig are hosting our CTO, Abdul-Hafiz Ibrahim, this Saturday at 2pm.
He'll speak on accesss ≠ adoption with and what happened when Interswitch gave its engineers access to AI.

You don't need 5 providers to ship one product.
Integrate payments, airtime, data & 7,000+ billers, payouts and international remittance with our APIs & access verification APIs, from our Marketplace.
Build in sandbox. Go live when you're ready.
