#goodmorningbritain I believe, from my experience, that many drivers are avoiding the lane that used to be the #hardshoulder on a #smartmotorway incase something is broken down there. Thus making the 10s of millions spent, a complete waste of money.

#goodmorningbritain an important point (often missed) about #smartmotorways is that Emergency Services used to use the hard shoulder to get to victims quickly. Now all lanes are blocked with stood traffic. Common sense alone is needed, not statistics.
