BTS said it in Black Swan. They were never afraid of losing fame or popularity. What they feared was losing their love passion for music. And that’s what has always set them apart. They have stayed sincere to their art and that’s what made BTS who they are
okay but can we talk about how as soon as the ig stories dropped literally all of army immediately backed their decision even tho we were alr doing everything to prep 😭 this is what bts have built with army. complete faith in their decisions and belief in their artistry.
except for tablo from epik high, no peer of bts in k-pop supported bts today. an industry critic said that only bts could show this backbone and that k-pop has to bow down to the grammys. while bts wanted to protect the industry's pride, we learned that the industry has no pride.
Sometimes the bravest decision isn't chasing what you've always wanted, it's choosing yourself instead. If a space repeatedly makes you feel unseen or unwelcome, protecting your peace is never a loss. BTS continues to teach that lesson to me.
And I think it’s okay to admit that in all this, there is hurt.
The hurt of knowing how much love, artistry and sweat went into the making of ARIRANG, only to deliberately exclude it from being recognised in response to institutional tokenism and xenophobia.
