Andy Burnham is now taking a few questions, albeit in highly controlled circumstances. He’s coming across as a bit Forrest Gump: well-meaning, naïve, uninformed.
So let’s get real. Here’s a proper question about a huge issue.
There are almost 11m people of working age in the UK who are economically inactive.
Yet Skills England reports that construction is short of 1m workers to meet the current infrastructure and housing targets — and that’s before you include Mr Burnham’s plans for a massive council house building programme.
It’s a clear sign of a labour market — skills shortage AND huge inactive labour pool — not functioning properly.
It needs to be put right before we have any chance of decent growth.
So, Mr Burnham, what would you do to put it right?
Mark Dolan pulls no punches in this searing critique of Keir Starmer, labelling him a traitor and questioning his integrity compared to Tony Blair. Watch now: https://t.co/WhqZalJXCU
Look at this. Labour are reducing funding for sport particularly in primary schools. The absolute opposite of what’s needed as obesity & mental health issues increase in our young people.
🚨"We are a joke country! This man is a prolific child rapist. He NEEDS to be gone!"
Shabana Mahmood is under pressure to close a legal loophole preventing the deportation of a Pakistani grooming gang ringleader.
@JuliaHB1
The leader of #rochdalegrooming gang Shabir Ahmed is being released 5 years early from 19 year sentence. Why? He can’t be deported to Pakistan even though his citizenship cancelled. The British justice system is a disgrace
Dodging the question as per usual and on a serious subject given it can mean life or death for innocent British citizens.
I won’t miss Keir Starmer’s evasive replies. He is demeaning the office of Prime Minister.
The Government has admitted it.
Ministers said the early release scheme wouldn't apply to those guilty of “the most serious, heinous crimes.”
But convicted members of the rape gangs *will* be let out early.
Heartbreaking.
So many young British families would love a flat like this.
Yet they are giving it to Afghans.
Why?
Putting our own people at the back of the queue needs to stop!
The Defence Secretary resigned 3 weeks ago because he was being forced to make decisions that would make our troops and our country less safe.
Today Labour is publishing a Defence Investment Plan that is barely half what the armed forces say is needed, and well below what our allies are spending.
Starmer is no longer the real Prime Minister. But he’s underfunding our military in his search for a ‘legacy’. If Andy Burnham has signed off on this, then he too is culpable of putting our service personnel at risk with this weak plan.
We need to cut benefits to fund our armed forces. It doesn’t matter who leads them, the problem is Labour MPs who won’t do what is necessary to defend our country.
Shabana Mahmood has as good as declared war on the British people.
Don’t be fooled by her smoke and mirrors measures to curb illegal migration.
We should be furious.

Labour could deport him, but they are CHOOSING not to change the law.
Victims deserve justice. The public deserve protection. Monsters like this must never be allowed back onto our streets.
Conservatives are bringing an amendment to close this loophole and deport him for good.
