The two-week 1000s are creating super challengers. Some players who lose in week 1 of a 1000’s will play a challenger because there are no other ATP/WTA tournaments taking place.
This week, we have Tabilo, Munar, Rinderknech, Griekspoor, Perricard, M Keys, and L Fernandez playing on the lower-tier tour, which is there for players to push closer to the Top 100. Making the 1000s longer makes the challengers stronger.
The problem with the two-week 1000s is that they are not grand slams. As we get to the quarters, there aren't enough matches & tournament suffers because the excitement dissipates. Grand slams are stacked with events: bo5 men's, women's, doubles, mixed, juniors, and legends.

Guys, one thing that I didn’t mention in my latest Monday Morning Tennis Rant was the tactical masterclass from Korda in the final vs Paul in Delray. On a windy and cool day, Korda played like Lord Tomic.
