#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C / @ArielleMBailey:
I would LOVE to see @CNHolmberg set #fairytaleretellings in the world of her Paper Magician books. Her world has 6 (I think?) different kinds of magic, & there are training schools and apprentices, & it’s FULL of potential.

Arielle, Christine, & Faith return with another #fairytale commentary for #TheGooseGirl!

Come read the fairy tale with us & share your own thoughts!

A hidden princess, a talking horse, helpful wind, & a lot of geese.

August's featured fairy tale is...

👸 🦢 THE GOOSE GIRL 🦢 👸

We're so excited to give this beautiful, but not nearly as well-known as it should be, #fairytale some love all month long!

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C & @Lauriloth:

URBAN FANTASY retelling of #thewoundedlion.
I mean, the prince basically is a shapeshifting lion, so it’d be perfect.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

Add some gears, machinery, all the fun stuff, and we’ve got the beginnings of an epic punk fantasy story.

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C & @KiriLiz:

STEAMPUNK/DIESELPUNK FANTASY retelling of #thewoundedlion.
There’s so much to branch off of with the giant. AND the farmer who keeps trusting the same girl with all of his animals, even when she consistently loses them.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C & @KiriLiz:

SUPERHERO/CONTEMPORARY FICTION retelling of #thewoundedlion.
My mind is currently giving me images of this little-known fairy tale meshed with Black Panther. Maybe that’s crazy, but maybe not. SOMEONE, help me with this.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C & @JustWayTooBoss:

DYSTOPIAN retelling of #thewoundedlion
A farmgirl in the wastelands of the futuristic world finds a lion! The giants could be aliens or humans that were genetically enhanced before the Fallout.

WELL. I DID IT. THE PRE-ORDER IS NOW LIVE. I CAN NOW SAY I'M A PUBLISHED AUTHOR.
It's surreal.

(Print book should be live by release day.)

We love doing #storywishlists for obscure #fairytales because, since there are no retellings out there, the possibilities are endless!

Today we're sharing our wishlists for The Gnome! See the ways we'd love to see this tale re-imagined & share your own!

This is sounding mega cheesy, but it could be meaningful enough to bring on the warm fuzzies.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C / Tracey Dyck: What about a really sweet, inspiring junior high retelling of #JackandtheBeanstalk?

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

Jack’s the trouble child in his class, and his single-parent mother is struggling. Maybe the school principle or a sports coach is the giant” but turns out to be a really great guy and becomes a father figure for Jack… and then there’s a romance with Jack’s mom!

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C/ @Lauriloth: I also think #thewoundedlion would make for a really great Studio Ghibli film. Especially since the characters of those movies tend to always be about helping one another and showing kindness, and that’s the whole point of this story.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C / @JustWayTooBoss: historical fantasy retelling of #thewoundedlion!
Early Renaissance, like 15th century maybe? Or even 16th century! I’m seeing this Ever After style but of course set in Spain.

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

I mean what if the beast in Beauty and the Beast was an alien? Or Sleeping Beauty was put into a cryogenic chamber because of a dying earth curse?

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#storywishlist from @FairyTale_C / @JustWayTooBoss:
SCI-FI #fairytaleretellings – There is so much potential with sci-fi seriously! And combining this genre with fairytales would be so awesome (I mean Star Wars is basically a fairytale itself).

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

Seeing a fairytale set in the vast reaches of space would be such a mood. Like we could have SPACE OPERA with space travel, unique planets and aliens, etc! Or ALIEN INVASION! Or TIME TRAVEL!

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

I love the 1920s – 50s time periods in general. So I’d be happy for any and all fairy tales during those times. But coupling it with a dieselpunk style would make it all that much cooler!

[Arielle Bailey @intwritingguide]

#fairytaleretellings #storywishlist from @Lauriloth:
DIESELPUNK. I want it SO BADLY. Retro futuristic technology thrown into a fairy tale? Um. How could this not be totally epic???
