Lots to update on.

We’re so close to finishing shipping. We’re just waiting on the next tracking list from MacMillan. They usually send them in batches of 6,000 to 7,000 orders, so we should get the next list sometime next week.

We’re now into the 40,000s, which is awesome. In fact, at the past few tour stops, everyone who was still waiting on an order had order numbers in the high 40,000s to low 50,000s, so we’re getting really close to the 2026 orders.

There are still some orders that have been lost, are stuck in customs, or were returned to sender and unfortunately destroyed. International orders still seem to be getting caught in these weird customs queues, and unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about that, that’s entirely a government process. I know the new EU regulations that went into effect on July 1 have also created a bit of a bottleneck.

Once WAVE 1 is complete...

WAVE 2 is all about getting replacement orders out.

This is a normal part of shipping something on this scale. The unexpected happens. We once had a Mooncake plush travel the entire globe before finally arriving at its destination in the United States. It showed up three months later...I still have no idea how that's even possible.

Once we hand a package over, it's in the hands of the carriers. We've shipped with UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL, and honestly...they're all about the same.
We are going to get your replacements to you. We just have to finish this first wave, and we're sooooo dang close to WAVE 2.

Midnight Editions are moving, and Battle Worn editions are moving too. We're just a much smaller operation, and the way we pack these is drastically different. More protection means more packaging, and more packaging takes more time. A big batch will be going out next week, so keep an eye out.

I guess this is part of the update too... headaches. All the time now. Tension headaches in the back of my head. I've still got a little fuel left in the tank, but I can definitely feel the fumes. Meeting all of you on these tour stops has given me the energy to keep going. Maybe I did Part 1 of the tour a little early because I needed to refill the tank to actually see where all this hard work has been going.

One fan told me she "put Final Space on when the pain became too much to bear."

Man...I wanted to move a mountain for her. Moments like that make me want to keep going. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for the kind words.

The only way I can describe this project is like climbing Everest. The closer I get to the top, the less oxygen and energy I have. But when I finally get there... I think the view is going to be incredible.

I'll continue not posting any spoilers until everyone has their books.

Got another update!
We got tracking for over 11,000 orders and will be updating them through tonight and tomorrow. So a big wave of you will be getting that through your emails. So far we’ve shipped out over 35,000 novels, insane but the job isn’t done yet.

Based on the pace we should be done shipping out everything over the next 2-3weeks. And then we’ll focus on damages/ lost orders and exchanges.

We’re almost to the finish line! Really appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to talk about the book with everyone. -O

Hey everyone!

A quick shipping update.

We’re still packing and shipping every day, and we’re getting close to the finish line. On Monday many of you will be getting orders.

Here’s where things stand:

1. Macmillan has all orders and is working through them. They’re now deep into the 30,000–40,000 order range. There are stragglers from earlier order numbers…because of address updates. One of the biggest slowdowns has been reshipping books that went to old addresses. International orders are also moving at different speeds depending on each country’s customs. Since I’m covering the import taxes, there shouldn’t be any extra charges when they arrive. It’s been amazing seeing thousands upon thousands of books showing up all over the world.

2. Honestly, address changes continues to be the biggest issue by far. 9 out 10 times when hasn’t gotten it in the batches we’ve sent out it’s been this.

3. Good news: every 2023 order has shipped. If you ordered in 2023 and still haven’t received your Color Edition:

• International: There’s a good chance it’s waiting in customs.
• U.S.: It’s most likely a delivery issue, an old address, or a package lost in transit.

If that’s you, please use the contact form on https://t.co/tQ526rDSEt with your order number so we can track it down and make it right. We’re also waiting on the final batch of tracking updates for those orders, which should be in next week.

4. 2024 orders are almost finished, and 2025 orders are starting to arrive.

I know it’s been a long wait. If I were shipping 50,000+ books myself, I’d probably die. All I dream about is shipping and packing. Macmillan has been an incredible partner, and I’m really grateful for everything they’re’ve done to help get these out.

Thank you all for your patience, your excitement, and your passion for Final Space. I’m not stopping until every single book is in your hands.

Will a few packages get lost, damaged, or delivered to the wrong place, or chewed up postal Velociraptor? Probably. That’s shipping.

But we’ll fix it.
