@RZ0812@iancassel I mean, could they be great communicators and honestly, sharp salespeople and not even look it? What kind of metrics do you like to look at to gauge execution? That's what I was going for.
Genuine question: how can investors, given the current level of disclosures and market practices, assess management execution. It's been on my mind for a while. Are there any resources that you advise? Books? Thanks!
As long as the management/business is executing - your time horizon and willingness let your thesis play out can be your biggest competitive advantage. Let others fight over pennies while you hold for dollars.
I'm always amazed at the hidden value in talking to management teams who don't present anywhere or do any IR. They are focused on the business and normally have an extreme amount of candor i.e. they aren't selling you. It's the highest signal management conversation.
How to name a fund:
Step 1: Choose an Adjective/Color (ex: Long, Deep, Green, Blue)
Step 2: Choose a Geographical Formation/Animal (ex: Rock, Stone, Mountain, Hill, River, Water, Fox, Falcon, Wolf)
Step 3: Choose 1 of: Capital Management or Partners.
Step 4: Combine.
@shardai_smithh It is devastating to find out youβre paying investment advisors when you could (potentially) be doing a lot of the leg work! See here for book recs βΊοΈ @InvBookshelf
@RensingTrades I think when you check too much it normally is a sign of worry. You should ideally run a portfolio where you're comfortable looking only at quotes once a week (or less frequenly even!). You need to just know the companies inside and out and not worry. That's my take! Agr./disag.?
I love this quote!
