@qcapital2020 Uber is like YouTube. the dominant player with costs growing as revenue grows.
Waymo is like Netflix. It has a huge upfront cost but it's fixed.
The expectation is that waymo can operate and continue to grow exponentially once they hit a max operating cost per year.
@karthikRanga92 I agree with you that small businesses aren't going to vibe code and replace Zoho.
But what about a different company that vibe codes a solution that works pretty well for you and doesn't charge you 25$ per seat per month? Would you not consider switching?
$GOOG absolutely killing it lately!
Deepmind is releasing SOTA models.
OpenAI and Anthropic are both using TPUs to lower cost! Even Google's competitors want Google to keep winning now! ๐
News: Google convinced OpenAI to pay for tensor processing units and shift away from Nvidia.
OpenAI has ~billions and billions~ of reasons to seek cheaper AI chip alternatives
@MetacriticCap@wintermoat You are ignoring that O3 scoring high was on Arc AGI 1 leaderboard where they shared they specifically trained on the benchmark dataset and cost like $100k
O3 scores 4% on ArcAgi2
Small nit: I think you meant to say reasoning model instead of CoT.
@joecarlsonshow Distillation is not deepseek copying from OpenAI models, it's then using their own bigger model to train smaller ones.
They could have lied about GPUs or still used OpenAI outputs but that is not distillation!
As someone working on AI research, the past few days of fintwit has been eye opening for me.
So many blogs, articles and posts about deepseek and their implications on the stock market by financial experts who don't know what they are talking about.
I'm not an active poster on Twitter but I appreciate everyone who does and have share their ideas.
I hope to be more active in 2025.
Wish you all a happy new year!
We announced Veo 2 in VideoFX just a week ago; while there's still much to do (car / character consistency, writing on signage / license plates stand out for me in this example), it's quite striking what a film-maker can do, using what we've released so far.
ใใใซใกใฏ(Konnichiwa) and hello, Japan! We're thrilled to announce that Waymo, in partnership with @Nihonkotsu_Taxi and @go_goesnext, will bring our autonomous vehicles to Tokyo for our first international road trip. Read more: https://t.co/6xnurQuiSP
Imagine being Sundar Pichai now:
- you had the largest continually updated data set of any company to train AI on (the Google Index)
- you invented the underlying technology of LLMs like ChatGPT in 2017 called Transfomers
- you had complete search dominance: all you had to add was AI and you'd own the market
And yet:
- you managed to complete fumble your massive head start and was late to everything
- you made your APIs so hard to use nobody seriously integrated it into their apps and people instead went Anthropic and OpenAI
- you now see your search dominance quickly slipping away to Perplexity and yesterday's launched ChatGPT Search
This will be a business case studied in universities for decades
Now increased to 150k rides after 2 months.
This is also only in SF, LA and Phoenix. Austin and other cities are ramping up now.
1 million rides per week next year?
Sundar said "YouTube over the last year surpassed $50 billion in revenues".
YouTube Ads = $35 billion in 1 year
So, YouTube subscriptions are $15 billion.
YouTube Ads grew 12% when subscriptions are also growing rapidly. Incredible!
@SupBagholder When I went back to India, I could see how many businesses communicate through Whatsapp. People like it as it's more convenient than email.
Meta can use India to show the power of Whatsapp business & then scale globally. I'm more excited for this than ads.
