Perhaps this isn’t a popular opinion but LO shouldn’t be scrapped, it needs to be revamped. The more children progress through school, the more they should be taught about career options. Sex Ed needs to step into the nitty gritty. 1/?

Life Orientation must be SCRAPPED at matric level! There’s AI, 5IR, quantum physics, apartheid history, and many more subjects we can teach our children at that level, not LO.

Teenage pregnancy is rampant in the country and our youth is still scrambling around trying to get into universities they don’t qualify for instead of being given alternatives to Law, Engineering and Medicine courses they feel disconnected to.

LO teachers should host career days. We no longer have plumbers and electricians, just entrepreneurs that have been scrambling to make money for twenty years who don’t even know how to apply or qualify for business loans.

I’ve met adults that still somehow don’t understand the severity of STDs. People doesn’t know how to build credit scores. Our school taught us how to calculate APS scores but not how to apply for bursaries. I feel like our country has many opportunities we know nothing about.
