The concept of the Mac Pro still has a ton of strong merit, the Apple has to be willing to allow the Mac Pro to be what was intended for a true professional workstation. Right now it’s an overpriced Mac studio. The best thing they could do is build it so things can be expanded/customized/, either let people add their own room for unified memory, or let it go to extreme levels and genuinely create the extreme chip with two ultras fuse together so we can potentially compete in this world of AI. Because people like me would pay. I would absolutely pay for something that could allow me to train models, at scale on a Mac.

Apple and TSMC have been working very hard to expand chip production in the United States.

Intel is also massively expanding advanced chip production in the US, in Arizona, Ohio, and elsewhere.

@LeakerApple That happened to me when I bought a refurbished top-of-the-line MacBook Pro and a week later, the next gen version came out - actually cheaper because Intel wasn’t keeping up. With Apple‘s 14 day return policy, got the new one for only a couple hundred dollars more.

@markgurman I want to see the MacBook Air’s get their taper back. The current models look mostly indistinguishable from the Pro’s because of the uniform thickness. Originally, the whole point of the taper was to give the effect of it disappearing into the air.
