BREAKING: SORRY PETE! Republican Rep. Don Bacon stuns his own party by joining the urgent calls for Trump to fire Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The pressure is rapidly building...

“I agree with the sentiments of Sen. Tillis. I hate to tell the president who he should hire and fire. I don’t know if it’s really my role, but I would say this: I would not — he would not be on my team. I think he is — he has not been a very good leader in many ways,” Bacon said on CNN.

“So, I agree with the sentiments of Sen. Tillis, and I wouldn’t hire him myself. He would not be on my team,” he added.

Bacon's broadside against Hegseth is particularly notable because he served for 29 years in the U.S. Air Force before joining Congress. Regardless of what one thinks of his broader politics, the health, efficiency, and competency of our military is clearly a top priority for him.

Yesterday, Tillis released a scathing statement on X calling for Hegseth's termination despite having originally voted to confirm him. Unlike most of his MAGA colleagues, Tillis is not running for reelection and so feels free to voice the harsh things that others are too afraid to say.

The senator thanked Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll for his leadership and service to the United States after Driscoll submitted his resignation on Monday. The departure of the Army's highest-ranking civilian leader came amidst a worsening feud with Hegseth after the so-called "Secretary of War" removed high-ranking, experienced Army leaders in an ideological purge.

"If we had a @SecWar who maintained the same priorities and forward-thinking, he would be fighting to retain talented leaders like Dan and the many flag officers he has forced into retirement. Instead, he is creating a leadership void at the top of our military ranks," wrote Tillis.

"I served on Senate Armed Services for 8 years and as chair or ranking member of the Personnel and Readiness subcommittee," he continued. "I have never witnessed more inept management of the brave men and women who serve our country. He is intimidated by competence and retreats to ginning up culture wars instead of soberly attending to the vital work of our national defense and the health and well-being of our fighting force."

The word choice is no coincidence. Used so closely, the words "ginning" and "soberly" are clearly references to Hegseth's alcohol problems. Tillis seemed to be implying that the problem is even worse than the public thinks, which would go a long way towards explaining Hegseth's erratic behavior.

"I urge the President to find a new leader at the Pentagon who will retain and empower our military talent rather than diminish it," Tillis concluded.

As more and more Republicans join the anti-Hegseth coalition, the temptation for Trump to scapegoat him for his failed Iran War will only grow. This man has accomplished nothing during his tenure as Defense Secretary and has instead made America weaker and less safe, expended our most crucial munitions in a pointless war on Israel's behalf, and engaged in the mass slaughter of women and children. History will remember him as a stupid, drunken monster.

BREAKING: YES! The former U.S. pardon attorney who was fired for refusing to help restore Mel Gibson's gun rights hits the Justice Department with a MASSIVE lawsuit.

This is going to be fun to watch...

“Shortly after President Trump took office, Ms. Oyer was asked to disregard her duties and facilitate a political favor for the actor Mel Gibson, based on Mr. Gibson’s relationship with President Trump. Ms. Oyer was asked to make it seem like an independent review had concluded that Mr. Gibson, who was convicted of a domestic violence offense, should have his gun rights restored,” states the suit, filed on Liz Oyer's behalf through the nonprofit organization Democracy Forward.

Oyer previously revealed that she was forced out of her job by then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche because she refused to do a mafia-style favor for Mel Gibson, a close Trump ally.

The disgraced actor lost his federal firearm rights due to a domestic violence conviction. In 2010, he allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva while she was holding their infant daughter, smashed her in the mouth, and threatened her with his gun. On top of that, a leaked phone conversation revealed that Gibson admitted to slapping her and at one point told her: "If you get raped by a pack of n*****s, it'll be your fault." He repeatedly called her a "whore," "bitch," and "c*nt."

"Although Blanche had the power to do it on his own, he tried to force Oyer to give her stamp of approval," Rep. Jamie Raskin previously stated. "Not convinced of Gibson’s rehabilitation or his lack of dangerousness, and knowing that over half of women murdered in the United States are killed by a current or past intimate partner, and the presence of firearms in an abusive household increases the risk of murder by 500%, Oyer refused to have anything to do with Blanche’s dangerous and unethical suggestion. Blanche sacked her."

This woman took a brave stand for what was right and she paid the price for it.

“Ms. Oyer had serious concerns about the public safety implications of granting Mr. Gibson’s request in light of his history of domestic violence and the well-documented dangers of placing firearms in the hands of domestic abusers," the lawsuit states.

The firing was carried out without proper adherence to the legal protections afforded to civil servants, including 30 days' notice and the opportunity to respond in writing. Not only that, but the Trump administration failed to provide a "written decision specifying the reasons for the removal." Obviously, Blanche didn't want to put it in writing that he was sacking Oyer for refusing to perform a crooked political favor.

Additionally, Oyer's suit alleges that her First Amendment rights were violated because she was targeted for her perceived connections to the Democratic Party due to the fact that she was hired when Joe Biden was President.

“This case is about much more than what happened to me," stated Oyer. "All Americans rely on nonpartisan civil servants to keep them safe and to uphold the law without fear or favor. I was fired because I refused to put politics ahead of my duty to the American people. My firing violated my constitutional and statutory rights, and it also jeopardized public safety."

“That is not how the Department of Justice is supposed to operate, and it is not how public servants in this country should be treated," she added. "If career officials like me can be fired for refusing to bend the rules to serve the president’s friends, then the message to every public servant is clear: loyalty to a politician matters more than loyalty to the Constitution. I cannot accept that.”

It's worth mentioning that Oyer was fired when the administration was still riding high, buying into their own hype, and convinced that a permanent culture shift towards their brand of fascism had occurred. They overplayed their hand, thinking that the future belonged to them. Now, Trump's approval has cratered, his entire party is electorally radioactive, and the bill is coming due for all of their transgressions.

Concerning Social Security payments, my contributions were made for over 50 years on every salary I received. From my first part time job until I retired. I always had a job.

The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a "Federal Benefit Payment?" I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you. Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit. It is our money paid out of our earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.

It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
Congress took our money and used it elsewhere. They forgot (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking.

They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them. And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer. And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit", as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.

Just because they borrowed the money doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!

Let's take a stand. We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it. Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.
