mercedes "sacrificed" kimi because he had a penalty and would start from the back either way
red bull sacrificed liam cause he's not even from their main team, he's there as a reserve
mclaren and alpine never sacrificed any of their drivers fully (from what i know, they switched orders between the laps - lando did get fucked by not having tow at the end, but it wasn't mclaren's initial plan)

charles was already leaving the garage ahead of lewis, giving him (unintentional) slipstream when possible without sacrificing his own laps. but asking for him to sacrifice his own chances would be just unfair, especially cause he's been fast this weekend without even a tow.

they fucked charles over in his second q2 lap, when he was P9 and NEEDED a lap, making him have no tow and, by a miracle, he was able to pass to q3. it's understandable that he didn't want to repeat that in q3. he respected the order of lewis having the priority, he was always going out before lewis, that doesn't mean he should fully back out of his laps so lewis could get a tow nor that he should be the first out on track, without having the chance of a slipstream from another car.

he had no penalty, has a chance to win the race just as much as lewis does, so why would he sacrifice himself?

you are stupid as fuck. charles never pushed oscar out on the straight. oscar had his space and his time to be ahead before the corner. he wasn’t, so charles was always taking HIS racing line, it’s oscar who should’ve backed fucking off. END OF DISCUSSION oh my god

Even with the benefit of the VSC, it was impossible to beat the Mercedes.

Meanwhile, the digs at Charles keep coming:
“I’m the only one fighting the Mercedes at the front.”
“Charles copied my setup,” implying that was the reason Charles won at Silverstone.
“We could have challenged for the win,” implying he would have done a better job than Charles.

After 20 years in F1 and winning everything there is to win, these petty games are completely unnecessary.

Last year, he was out there fighting on his own in a tractor against the McLaren rocketships and Max Verstappen.

The result: 7 podiums and a pole position.

And not once did he go in front of the cameras to complain about getting no help from his teammate.

I get wanting Charles to go in for a “win or wall” attitude but that only feels fun and exhilarating to watch when he feels comfortable enough with the car to risk it all. On a weekend like Canada where he felt uncomfortable from FP1 I’d much rather him play it safe
