i think the biggest source of grief since my autism diagnosis is realising that i’m going to have to carefully manage my every move, decision and energy-usage every single day for the rest of my life just to stay afloat/okay/not burned out
It's strange actually delivering therapy after a decade of thinking about and preparing for it. I was told so many times that clinical psychologists are not 'just therapists' (whatever that means) that I'm almost surprised how much it's a part of training!
THIS is the misdiagnosis that is happening. Not people being ‘handed’ autism and ADHD diagnoses. But neurodivergent people being given inappropriate mental health diagnoses and inappropriate treatment as a result.
I'm 6 months in to the #dclinpsy course and I feel physically sick thinking about how much I need to get done in the next 2.5 yrs 🤢guess it's time for that whole 'focus on the present' thing we talk about 😆
I just love that all my project plans have to account for the 30 mins it takes me to find a song/playlist/podcast that will allow me to work for just 20 minutes before I lose focus 🥲🤠#writing#research#Productivity
Here's a fairly rare opportunity for an #autistic student to do a fully funded PhD on autistic listening, supervised by an autistic professor (me).
Niche, but it's going to be someone's dream. If that's you, get in touch.
Enjoy an exclusive extract from @SheffieldLuke's new book, 'What Works for Autistic Adults' in @psychmag from @BPSOfficial, including why it's not as helpful to say "Everyone is a bit autistic" as you think it is... https://t.co/0yshJ0vOmC
