This Hiyama Bizen Tea Bowl embodies a more traditional aesthetic compared to its contemporary counterparts. Thrown as a cylinder, the bowl undergoes a natural Anagama firing process, resulting in a complex and captivating surface.

This tea bowl's matte, nearly copper-toned glazed surface sets it apart from Fujihira’s other Cinnabar Tea Bowls. The black clay body beneath the glaze transforms the cinnabar into a rich blue, accented with soft hues of purple and pink.

De Santillana, during her second residency at the world-renowned Museum of Glass’s hot shop in Tacoma, Washington, managed to capture the folded glass form that has become characteristic of her practice at an impressive and imposing size.
