The @Tesla Model Y was the #1 best-selling vehicle overall in South Korea in May.

By brand, Tesla recorded the highest number of imported registrations at 10,866 units:
• Model Y Premium: 7,195 units
• Model Y L Premium: 1,513 units

This was followed by BMW with 6,555 units, Mercedes with 3,553 units, Audi with 1,509 units, Lexus with 1,291 units, Volvo with 1,058 units, and BYD with 1,032 units.

Wow, a massive amount of Tesla vehicles were just imported into Japan.

Tesla Japan is on track for a record year in 2026. Sales are up 151% YoY through the first four months of 2026.

In 2025, Tesla delivered ~10,600 vehicles in Japan. Through April 2026, they’ve already delivered ~6,200 vehicles.

Model S & X changed automotive history forever by proving that an EV could be the best car possible – of any kind.

By inspiring other automakers to believe in EVs, they pushed the industry from 50k cars total in 2011 to 21 million sold per year.

Many automotive firsts:
