Here are four powerful prayer tips from Saint Teresa of Avila that can completely change the way you pray... ⤵️

1. Stop praying like God isn't in the room.

Before you say a single word, remind yourself who you're talking to. You're not speaking into empty space. You're speaking to God, who is already looking at you with love. Give Him your attention, even if it's just for a few minutes.

2. Talk to Jesus like someone who actually loves you.

Saint Teresa taught that prayer is about friendship. You don't need fancy words or perfectly memorized prayers. Tell Jesus what's really going on in your heart. Talk to Him, spend time with Him, and most importantly, give Him space to speak to you.

3. Stop thinking your prayer is failing just because you don't feel anything.

This is where so many people get discouraged. You pray, you feel distracted, you feel nothing, and you assume you're doing something wrong. But Saint Teresa reminds us that prayer isn't measured by how good it feels. Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is show up and remain faithful, even when prayer feels dry.

4. Stop hiding parts of your life from God.

Your prayer doesn't have to be separate from everything you're going through. Bring Him your anxiety, your failures, your temptations, your unanswered questions, and even your doubts about Him. God already knows what's in your heart. Prayer is where you learn to bring all of it into His presence and allow Him to heal and strengthen you.

And if you remember just one thing from Saint Teresa, let it be this: Prayer isn't about having the perfect words or the perfect feelings. It's about growing in friendship with the God who already loves you.
