Hi Senator @tedcruz, you likely recognize that MEK (mujahedeen-e Khalq) translates to “people/masses who do jihad.”

You may know they are a terrorist organization with American blood on their hands, and that they function as an Islamo-marxist cult.

You might also realize they oppose America as much as the Islamic republic in Iran, and that they are also anti-Israel.

Though MEK appears to seek power, you should know they cooperate with that same regime we are all working to remove.

Problem: the UAE didn’t even exist yet. Iran took them on 30 Nov 1971. The UAE was formed on 2 Dec. You just endorsed a claim from a country that wasn’t a country when the events happened.
Did anyone at Global Affairs tell you the basic timeline, or did you just sign whatever the Emiratis put in front of you for the investment photo-op?

Prince @PahlaviReza represents a vision of a democratic, secular, and free Iran an Iran where the people, not any individual or political faction, decide their own future through free and fair elections.

He has repeatedly advocated democracy, national unity, freedom of choice, and a peaceful transition to a system chosen by the Iranian people.

And if we are genuinely concerned about democracy and human rights, we should also be honest about the #MEK: an organization with a deeply troubling history of violence, armed struggle, authoritarian internal practices, and a documented record of terrorism.

You cannot claim to defend democracy while ignoring the history and actions of such groups.

The Iranian people deserve better than the Islamic Republic, and they deserve better than authoritarian alternatives disguised as opposition.

Prince Reza Pahlavi deserves to be heard, not silenced. The future of Iran belongs to its people. 🇮🇷
