Galanakis posted bodycam and his own footage online (it went viral), criticized the officers, and in early 2023 sued the City of Newton, Winters, Wing, and the police chief for false arrest, Fourth Amendment violations, and related claims. The officers countersued for defamation over some of his public statements.
