THIS IS FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS!
NYC just voted to END horse-drawn carriages! @NYCCouncil passed Romanch’s Law, and PETA is pledging $50,000 to help horses retire. This moment belongs to every PETA supporter who never gave up, and @SpeakerMenin and @NYCMayor for their leadership!
Speciesism is a misguided belief that one species is more important than another. It’s time to recognize that all sentient beings deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. We can reject speciesism and act with integrity and consistency toward all living beings, and the first step is to recognize that every animal has the right to live free from human exploitation.
🚨 @UW DIDN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW THEY DID THIS TO BABIES 🚨
These days-old baby monkeys were torn from their mothers and subjected to repeated torment and distress💔
PETA obtained this never-before-seen footage through a public records request.
This baby monkey is so tiny that they could fit in the palm of your hand 💔 Rather than protecting them, experimenters at @UW rip them from their mothers and torment them in tests until they tremble and shriek.
They did this to day-old babies. Take action 👉 https://t.co/fTgifZJhq7
K-9s deserve to be treated with the same respect as any other officers who put their lives on the line to protect their communities—but some agencies and training facilities still rely on cruel, abusive, and antiquated training methods instead of humane strategies with proven efficacy. Addressing speciesism and acknowledging other animals’ rights can be as simple as respecting their needs. We must recognize that they have their own interests and deserve to live free from pain and suffering—while also facing up to the prejudices which allow us to turn a blind eye to the horrors inflicted on them every single day inside laboratories, slaughterhouses, and circuses. No matter how different we may look from each other, we’re all in this together. Once we come to this realization, it’s our responsibility to do something about it.

@nurseweezie If you live in a city where carriage rides are still allowed, contact your local legislators to ask if they will sponsor a ban. https://t.co/WBROSiypLm
Making horses pull oversized loads like carriages is cruel. Horses are forced to toil in all weather extremes, dodge traffic, and pound the pavement all day long. They may develop respiratory ailments because they breathe in exhaust fumes, and they can suffer debilitating leg problems from walking on hard surfaces.
IT'S OFFICIAL: The NYC City Council just voted to ban horse-drawn carriages 🐴🎉
This cruel industry is finally on its way OUT, and PETA is pledging $50,000 to help the horses retire to greener pastures!
Good riddance 👋❤️

NYC is turning the page on a cruel chapter, and @NYCMayor helped make it happen! This historic victory marks the beginning of a brighter future for horses.
A HUGE shoutout to Mayor Mamdani for standing with horses and helping usher in a kinder NYC 🎉
@LeannaFreeman77 Horses and heavy city traffic can be a deadly mix. Despite carriage operators’ claims, most horses are not comfortable working among cars and trucks, and many accidents, injuries, and even deaths—to horses and humans—result from horses who have become “spooked” in traffic.
Council Member and bill co-sponsor @CMFrankMorano has called out the city's horse-drawn carriage industry, and when an unreasonable amendment threatened to delay the phaseout, he absolutely refused to back down!
We're SO grateful he stood up for horses when it mattered most 👏
Horses in the carriage industry are forced to toil in all weather extremes—dodging traffic, inhaling exhaust fumes, and pounding hard pavement all day long—leading to respiratory ailments and debilitating leg problems. Impatient and careless drivers have caused multiple incidents in which carriages have been hit, injuring and killing both horses and humans 💔
Denmark, once one of the world’s largest fur exporters, is banning the farming of mink for fur production by August 2029!
Every country should follow its lead 👏
