Earlier in the afternoon, PSST @rggoobi, at the #ECD Annual Review, shared insights mainly focused on the feedback from investors, tourists, and other stakeholders on their experiences and challenges in Uganda.
He emphasized the need to turn opportunities identified by Uganda’s Missions abroad into tangible results, including increased investment, exports, tourism growth, technology transfer, and job creation.
Key concerns raised included:
- Unpredictable taxes,
- Slow regulatory processes
- lnformal payments
- Land and infrastructure challenges
- Skills gaps
- High travel costs
- lnconsistent service standards, and gaps in tourism facilities and destination marketing.
He stressed that addressing these stakeholder concerns, alongside effective promotion, is essential to making Uganda more competitive and turning identified opportunities into actual results.

#ECD ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW
PSST @rggoobi, This review must answer four questions: What have we achieved? Where are we now? What must we do differently? And who will do what, and by when? I want us to leave this room with clear actions, clear responsibilities and clear timelines.
Our main challenge is to convert the opportunities identified by our Missions abroad into actual results. We need to see increased exports, realised investments, tourism growth, technology transfer and jobs.
Our Missions are on the frontline, but they cannot do this alone. MDAs and the private sector must work together to respond quickly to opportunities and remove the constraints that prevent them from becoming deals.
#ECD Technical Session 2 focused on tourism promotion and source market conversion, examining shifts in visitor intent, Uganda’s tourism performance and key sector gaps, including awareness, distribution, competitiveness, conversion and final-mile challenges.
The session also explored domestic readiness through improved infrastructure, product diversification, quality and standards, investment facilitation and private-sector preparedness, with a focus on moving from promotion to measurable diplomatic outcomes.

@AJENews The death recorded in Uganda was that of a Congolese national who crossed into the country from the DRC. Therefore, presenting combined figures for both countries can incorrectly suggest that Uganda’s situation mirrors that of the DRC. Very wrong.
@AJENews It is important to avoid generalizing the figures for Uganda and the DRC. The situation in each country should be reported separately to avoid misleading the world. There have been no reported Ebola-related deaths among Ugandan nationals in the current outbreak.
