#LetFreedomSing This moment is characterised by a Captain Traore phobia and Traore mania. Captain Traore elicits very strong feelings on either extreme.

Some criticise Captain Ibrahim Traore for his governance shortcomings and find him wanting based on international human rights norms and standards . Yet others see him as a revolutionary carrying out the most transformative developments for his people and region.

Whatever view you take , one thing is certain, though , you can not ignore the manner in which Captain Traore has captured the imagination of the global Pan-African family and its spirit of resistance to colonial and imperial exploitation. Pan-African activists needed an iconic symbol and Traore has become the new Sankaraesque or Che Guevara

It is difficult to ignore his ability to connect with ordinary people beyond the Burkinabe and his message about political and economic self-determination.

Captain Traore is fast becoming a symbol of much more than military rule and the much resented Unconstitutional Changes of governme ts (UCGs).

Captain Ibrahim Traore may not be a holy saint , but he ain't a devil either . Simplistic tropes and romanticist views cannot adequately describe the complexity that is the young ruler
