Her name is Smriti Singh.
She met Anshuman on the first day of engineering college. Love at first sight. He got selected to AFMC a month later. They maintained a long distance relationship for 8 years.
They married on February 10 2023.
Two months later he was posted to Siachen.
On the night of July 19 2023 a fire broke out at the ammunition dump where he was stationed. Captain Anshuman Singh ran in to rescue his fellow soldiers. The fire spread to the medical room. He went back in to retrieve life saving medicines.
He did not come back out.
He was 26 years old.
On July 5 2024 Smriti stood at Rashtrapati Bhavan before President Droupadi Murmu. She received the Kirti Chakra. India’s second highest peacetime gallantry award. On her husband’s behalf.
She held back tears. She said this.
I considered myself his top priority. Turns out I was just a little behind India.
India watched and wept.
Then his parents gave interviews.
They said she was married for only five months. That she had no children. That she had walked away with the money. That she should marry their younger son if she wanted to stay in the family.
The internet turned on Smriti overnight.
Gold digger. Opportunist. Not a real wife.
Anshuman had named Smriti as his next of kin in his own will. His legal right. His choice. The Army confirmed this. The pension went to her because he chose her.
She did not speak. She did not retaliate.
She had lost her husband after two months of marriage. She stood alone at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She accepted his medal. She stayed silent when India called her a criminal for it.
She gave India her husband.
India gave her a character assassination.
Her name is Smriti Singh.
Remember it.

@urstrulyMahesh Sir,my newborn baby has been in Gandhi Government Hospital for 20days. Doctors say infection and are trying antibiotics, transfusions, but there is no improvement.
We are scared and losing hope.i believe Rainbow Hospital can give better care, but I cant afford (1/2)
I had a friend who was always called “too much.” Too loud. Too emotional. Too ambitious. Too opinionated. Every time she spoke up, someone told her to calm down. Every time she dreamed bigger, someone reminded her to “be realistic.” So little by little, she learned how to shrink herself. She laughed quieter. She apologized more. She stopped raising her hand in meetings. She stopped sharing her ideas.
One day, she told me she had been accepted into a program overseas. She said it casually, like it wasn’t a big deal. But I knew it was everything she had worked for in silence. When she left, she didn’t make a big announcement. She just packed her bags and went.
And I realized how many women are taught their whole lives to take up less space... until leaving becomes the only way to finally breathe.
In hospital wards, we doctors see the truth about love.
In one bed:
A wife is vomiting / a husband has melena…
and their partner is there, rubbing their back, cleaning them, not leaving their side.
In the next bed:
A woman is crying in pain… and her husband is least bothered /
A man lies helpless after a stroke… and his wife won’t even do the bare minimum of turning him to prevent bedsores.
Illness doesn’t just test the body.
It exposes people.
Choose your partner carefully.
Its my last day at home and yesterday I felt like eating something and casually mentioned it at home.
Mom started cooking at 10 pm and finished around 12. ( gajar ka halwa my fav)
In that moment, I realized-no one puts in so much effort just to fulfill a small wish.
Parents do things silently, without expecting anything back.
If you're living with your parents, express how much they truly matter!
We donated his eyes, going against the wishes of some family members.
A week later, we received a call from L. V. Prasad Eye Institute and they told us his eyes had been transplanted to two young boys, aged 18 and 19.
We are happy that it helped give those young boys their vision.
I hope that somewhere, sometime, those eyes might see us again ❤️.
I grew up in a small 1 BHK house in Cholourpalya pipeline. I still remember my name being called out in front of the whole class for non-payment of school fees. My first phone was a basic CDMA phone, bought on EMI.
My parents had to take hand loans at high interest rates to pay my MBA fees because we didn’t have enough financial backing to get a proper education loan. From whatever little she made, my sister took care of me all throughout. Even though my parents and sister never made me feel it, I knew how much they had to struggle to even provide basic things, so I never burdened them with my wants.
I used to look at many things around me and just say “one day” and move on. Now, after working for almost 10 years and taking care of most of the things from the past, I’m at a place where I can afford to live a little better. I want to use this phase of my life to probably show a better life to everyone who was with me all along including that little guy who used to look at something good and say “one day”.
I might not make a fortune. I might not create generational wealth. I might not even create another generation. I’m going to be 33 in a week and I don’t know what future holds for me. All of this can be gone in a snap. So, while I am here, when I still can, I want to live a little.
