Louise O'Neill: 'What’s the best way to learn Irish as an adult?' https://t.co/kh7cRRDTSO
@oneilllo Get into a class that uses https://t.co/JXWlsE6OUP. Most efficient method for learning Irish, by far. Learn the dialogue at home then practice in class. Simple.
Following a successful initial pilot https://t.co/7GZlm3eYC4 are seeking 10 new pilot TY classes for September. This blended solution dramatically raises the bar making Leaving Cert Chinese an easy choice. https://t.co/7TJCspsz8z

@peter_lydon Teaching Chinese to TY students. Used https://t.co/7GZlm3eYC4 for flipped lesson content, with Zoom Breakout Rooms for paired dialogue practice, returning to the main zoom meeting to perform or discuss. Plus media via Zoom for cultural aspect. Worked really well.

One Covid19 silver lining is that primary teachers and students now have a wealth of tech experience opening blended learning to everyone.
Also from a language acquisition perspective we can now see clearly the motivational role of in-class practice.
If you are looking for ideas to integrate blended learning into your teaching practice, look no further. We have created resources which step you through the pedagogy, planning and practicalities in this regard. Check them out at https://t.co/0ntGHyDHwg #blendedlearning#edchatie
Zoom Breakout Rooms work really well for your in-class practice of the https://t.co/JXWlsE6OUP weekly lessons.

And here at home, a huge increase in new teachers relying on us to deliver their #remotelearning for Irish. Will be fascinating to see how many transition to our full #flippedclassroom methodology once schools reopen.
Interesting to see the locations of our students stuck away from home. Still getting their https://t.co/e6NjBCeqjh done this morning though. Fair play to them and their teachers and parents.
"We should look through the materials and search for evidence of cueing,... don't let it get near our kids, don't let it get near our classrooms, our teachers."
Great article! Next question, why is "three cueing" so prevalent in Irish language learning material??
"The ability to read words in isolation quickly and accurately is the hallmark of being a skilled reader" and that fact debunks cueing theory. https://t.co/PSmhOvNdTD Weak word recognition skills are the most common and debilitating source of reading problems. #edchatie
@TrionaBallerina I'll be piloting a brand new Chinese langauge platform at Kilmartins in Limerick from Sept. Can you DM to discuss in relation of how this fits into the new Senior Cert Chinese program.
@ciarakellydoc@TgLurgan@LunchtimeLiveNT I was frustrated with the lack of "success" for my own kids. So I set up a platform that cuts out all the none essential material and focuses on the spoken language. We flip the classroom, make it ultra accessible to home study. Teacher then facilitates fun practice in class.
