Chartered in 1893, IRLA is the oldest non-sectarian association dedicated to protecting and promoting religious freedom for all people. RT ≠ endorsement.
When we urge our judges and legislators to protect freedom of conscience, we are not implying that this is a right originating with them. Freedom of conscience is one of those “unalienable rights” given all people by God. #firstfreedom#udhr#religiousfreedom.
Civility doesn’t appear because we wish it, or will it, or publicly lament its absence in the public square. Civility grows by patient practicing in conversations with those whose ideas don’t attract us. Talking together teaches us respect, and practicing builds trust. #civilty
It is the strategy of many who wield political power to persuade us that our rights are derived from their largesse. But religious freedom is the gift of God alone. Human governments can only protect and defend the unalienable right to liberty of conscience.

Sabbatarian faith communities (Judaism, Seventh-day Adventists, World Wide Church of God) vigorously defend their constitutional right to not be required to work on their day of rest and worship. Should those who keep a Sunday Sabbath be guaranteed the same right? #SCOTUS#Groff
The place from which religious freedom is removed is no longer a public space where humans breathe and play and work. It is, wherever found, a prison cell—and the antithesis of all that God intended for us. Our dignity—our humanity—depends on freedom. #udhr#billofrights

During #COVID19 crisis, there are reports #India govt is arresting Muslim activists protesting the #CAA, including Safoora Zargar who is pregnant.
At this time, #India should be releasing prisoners of conscience, not targeting those practicing their democratic right to protest.
Standing room only at today’s International Religious Freedom Roundtable on Capitol Hill. Glad to be a part of this committed group of civil society and government partners who work for freedom of religion or belief around the world. #religiousfreedom
Great first two days of #IRFMinisterial! Close to 900 members of civil society and religious groups attended. By my count, we had 36 panels and 186 speakers over those two days (give or take a few). Over 100 governments coming today!
