we’ve normalized checking our phones every spare fraction of a second that exists throughout our day.
be honest, how many times have you gone to check it and barely had time to enter your passcode before you needed to put it away?
why can’t I just throw this thing away?
your attention span is like a gas tank, when you wake up its full. problem is, you only have so much juice to get you where youre trying to go.
when you check your phone in all the little space between, youre basically driving with a leak. the more you rip the reels, the faster it drains. this is why youre literally gassed at noon. need to hit the watering hole (the keurig) 6 times per day and rip stimulants for things that should require such little brain power that a baby could do it. basically end up making it half way to bed time and have to push the car to make it nowhere.
stop checking the damn phone when youre in the elevator (theres no service). stop checking your phone walking from your desk to the toilet. stop checking your phone at every stop light. its ruining your ability to do anything meaningful. instead of stopping and starting every 5 minutes, aim for efficiency. highway miles gents.
@dantefofante everyone feels this but most haven’t figured out what’s happening internally to put their finger on the problem or the solution. excellent analogy here
it’s a universal law: for every peak, a valley must follow.
you see it across all realms of life. think of the mountains. think of the waves.
and it’s no different in the realm of men.
you plan, you train, you grind with the singular focus of accomplishing your goal and you hit the peak.
then comes the valley. you return home, to the mundane calm of it all. the rush wears off and reality settles back in.
most think the man is made when he peaks. wrong.
the valley is where the man either destroys himself trying to cheat their way out of the valley and replicate the peak chasing cheap highs (drugs, booze, porn, whatever).
or he stays disciplined, reflects during his time in the valley, embraces the calm, draws nearer to God and begins rekindling his fire to come back stronger on this next pursuit.
chase the peak, but know it’s what you do in the valley that forms your soul.
these are the moments when all your senses are locked in concurrently.
perfect unison.
get it right or suffer the consequence.
men of modernity need to seek this moment often. balance out the doldrums of lives surrendered to the chair and a screen.
seek death or it seeks you
there’s an indescribable element of freedom that exists in those small moments where everything is on the line.
it’s just you and your focus.
nothing else matters, just the moment.
Nice, good case for keeping the childlike wonder alive. Most people learn to ride a bike as a kid. They just see it as possible and know it’s possible so they do it. Then humans grow up and lose that childlike mindset. Too analytical, too afraid of failure, whatever and that’s what causes them to repeatedly doubt themselves whenever their efforts are initially paying off.
