It took almost three years but finally an expansive bibliography (of about 100 entries) on Indigenous childhoods in India is finally out! The bibliography is a great resource for anyone working in childhoods studies, Adivasi studies, sociology/anthropology in India, among others.
17 persons killed in Sukma. A young woman activist of the Moolvasi Bachao Manch had her leg blown off in an IED blast. When will all of this stop and people be able to live normally without fear? We need peace talks NOW
Telangana state police forcefully and illegally entered our HCU campus with 5 JCB excavaters, 2 buses, and a truck filled with policemen and policewomen. While the JCBs started clearing the forest illegally, the police manhandled and detained peacefully protesting students.
Thinking of submitting a suicide note along with research proposal, writing sample, personal statement and a hundred other things to American universities for my PhD application. (going through multiple rejections)
Chhattisgarh State and Police and Security Forces have shot bullets at children. They have murdered 6 villagers from Kummam and Lekavada. Many injured including minors. There were no naxalites present at the time of shooting. Police claims are fake. Clear case of massacre.
Local newspapers in Chhattisgarh are representatives of the state. We don't care if the Maoists used children as shields or not. The fact is that police open fired on children. Children are killed and injured. This is unacceptable! There can not be any justification to it.
Violence against children seems to be the modus operandi of modern states in these and other regions inhabited by Indigenous ppl. Discourses on child protection appear to be a sham. Number of Adivasi children killed in 2024, for βsecuringβ Bastar is alarming yet unaddressed.
The ethnographer on the field is ready for her defence. She brought me into sociology/anthropology/childhoods. Shaped me into a critical, more politically aware and kind-er person. An incredible master/teacher to me. Person I love the most in life.
Phew! I am finally defending my PhD dissertation next week! If you are interested in Indigenous childhoods and want to learn more about my research on Adivasi children's lives, the presentation will be public and via Zoom. DM me for the link!

It's alarming that another scholar used my dissertation proposal as an abstract for a grant award. Though my thesis moved beyond the proposal, how do we protect our work, especially when grad students and junior scholars are repeatedly advised to share our ideas and works?
