🚨 THE INTERNET IS FACING ONE OF THE WORST WAVES OF CYBERSECURITY THREATS EVER.

More than 20 major cyber incidents and security warnings have been reported in recent days, affecting banks, governments, cloud platforms and widely used software.

1. PHP, used by a huge part of the web, had 2 critical flaws (CVSS 9.2) that let attackers run code remotely

2. Governments in 9+ countries took websites offline as a precaution, including France, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and the UK

3. eMudhra, a certificate authority, had the keys of 8 certificates exposed. One key was the number 4

4. Railway says hackers may have accessed decrypted customer secrets

5. Zeabur was breached, with 321,810 accounts affected, and is shutting down

6. Japan's Onamae Desktop Cloud stopped up to 26,739 servers after malware was found

7. LiteLLM, a popular AI library, was poisoned and stole cloud and AI keys

8. OVHcloud's CLI tool was backdoored

9. GitLab disclosed a CVSS 10 flaw that lets attackers take over servers without logging in

10. State Bank of India confirmed 3,897 customer records on the dark web

11. Data of California students was stolen from ETS, with the intruder inside for about 4 months

12. Bullhorn took its platform offline after a cyber incident

13. Palo Alto firewalls are still being exploited by ransomware groups Qilin and Inc

14. Researchers say AI agents were used to target 400+ banks and payment companies in Latin America

15. Axios reports US banks are finding unauthorized AI agents inside customer accounts

MAJOR US BANKS DETECT AI AGENTS ACCESSING CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS, SOME ACTING WITHOUT USER INSTRUCTIONS

Major US banks are detecting third-party AI agents accessing customer accounts, with some appearing to take actions independently of user instructions, according to Axios.

Banks are struggling to distinguish human activity from AI agents, determine whether agents have user permission, and identify when an agent has gone rogue.

Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Citi are restricting third-party AI agents over concerns they could move funds, make purchases, or execute transactions without authorization.

One banking executive described the situation as “horrifying,” as financial institutions race to contain the risks posed by increasingly autonomous AI systems.

Call me paranoid, but be extra careful visiting ANY web site in the next few days, as some web admins are not always up-to-date with security patches.

Two vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) reported for PHP, the web programming language, affecting servers running popular apps like WordPress and Magento, with patches released October 21, 2026 after details leaked early.

Exploitation was confirmed in the wild soon after disclosure, prompting quick WAF protections and patching by IT teams, as unauthenticated attacks could turn visited sites into vectors for credential theft or device exploits.

FIGMA AI RESEARCH LEAD WARNS “BLACK OCTOBER” COULD MARK THE BEGINNING OF RAPID AI TAKEOFF

John Milinovich warns that the unprecedented wave of cyberattacks sweeping across governments, banks, and major technology companies may signal a historic turning point for humanity.

Milinovich, who describes himself as a 99th-percentile technology optimist, says AI models have reached the capabilities of the world’s most sophisticated programmers.

However, AI can operate 24/7, with 10,000 agents working simultaneously toward the same objective.

He warns that increasingly capable open-source AI models, particularly those developed in China, are giving malicious hackers the ability to launch attacks at a scale previously unimaginable.

Meanwhile, he says breakthroughs in mathematics, computer science, materials science, and life sciences suggest AI progress may be accelerating far faster than society can adapt.

“From everything that I can see and am feeling, we are currently experiencing the fast takeoff scenario.”

Milinovich compares the atmosphere in Silicon Valley to scenes from Margin Call, where a handful of people realize a catastrophic event is unfolding before the rest of the world understands what’s happening.

He warns that the risks are no longer theoretical, that society is dangerously unprepared, and that even those closest to the technology don’t know what to do.

“I think October 2026 will have many chapters written about it in the history books.”
