@amanda__jo If I want my kitchen clean, I have to cook myself something to eat. On the stove.
If I want laundry folded, I have to find a tv show that I want to keep watching, but doesn't require deep thought, on a streaming service with commercials.
@Favwontmiss Do you know how fucking betrayed I felt by the universe when I discovered that eating fruit every day did, in fact, make me feel better?
What's next? Putting my phone down at bedtime?
I don't know how to explain it but this is the kind of humor that stabs me right in the fucking kidney.
A one word response that's wrong in three ways.
Fantastic. Utter genius. This must be what native Japanese speakers feel when they read a good ass haiku.
A farmer buys a young cock. As soon as he gets it home, it f*cks all the farmer's 150 hens. The farmer is impressed. At lunch the cock screws all 150 hens again.
The next day it's f*cking the ducks and geese too. Later he finds the cock lying on the ground half-dead with vultures circling overhead.
The farmer says, “You deserved it, you horny bastard!” The cock opens one eye, points up, and says, “Shhhhhh. They’re about to land!!”
Look, the rule is that a living person can't be printed on our currency. So if Trump wants his face on the $250 bill in time for our 250th anniversary, he's got a tough choice to make in a short amount of time.
I’m not a libertarian, but it really is remarkable how a private company will create a service which never existed before and which is plainly very useful, and the reaction of many is to scoff and say “how dare this function be in private hands, this company is a rent seeker”
@Negatrev@GreydMiyu@VibesBankRate I happen to agree that baseboard radiators--or even better, in floor radiant heat--makes a more comfortable home. Others would say a potbelly stove in the basement is the most comfortable. But nobody who knew his ass from his elbow would say they're more efficient than heat pumps
@Negatrev@GreydMiyu@VibesBankRate has a tendency to move around. In an insulated envelope a properly designed forced air system will balance the temperature at the ceiling and at the floor to within a degree Celsius. You can argue that other furnaces are more comfortable, but not that they're more efficient.
@demiurgently Simulating dropping them on the floor and interrupting their cries by putting your hand over their mouths repeatedly in rapid succession to make hilarious noises are also big winners in my experience.
I do fear that making a movie of it will irreparably damage it as an egregore though. It's the same reason most Steven King movies are trash. Collapsing the waveform of a scary thing can never result in something as scary as it was when it was hiding from us in the shadows.
Despite (or perhaps because of) the fact the lore was mostly invented by young people of questionable literary talent, I think the backrooms is an incredible moment in time we have the privilege to witness.
It's an internet meme complex, a moving target, a shared mythology, and it contains every single quality of a good horror movie. It's Alien, it's The Thing. It's fear of the world we're leaving behind reaching out across time to claw us back. Simply incredible.
