In 1954, Constance Fisher drowned her three children in a bathtub. She was sent to a mental hospital, declared recovered, and released. Her husband stayed with her. They had three more children. She drowned those three as well—same house, same bathtub, same explanation.
Six children died because the system treated a woman who had already killed her kids as a patient who simply needed more time.
That is the actual issue. Not whether she was sad. Not whether she heard voices. The question is what happens after you let someone like that out, and who pays the price the second time.
Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children. Some people are already writing her sympathy notes and calling prison cruel. Cruel is three small bodies. Cruel is committing the act once and being offered a path back to freedom. Cruel is pretending history has not already run this experiment and lost six children in the process.
Mental illness can explain how a person reaches that point. It does not grant a free pass for murder. It does not entitle anyone to more children. And it does not obligate the rest of society to wait and see whether the next set of children dies too.
If you kill your children, you do not get to be a mother again. You do not get a soft landing and a second family. Life without parole. Lock the door. Stop experimenting on other people’s children and making excuses.
Convict her. Convict those who harm children. Period.

I have undertaken this project to put a face to 9/11 by posting photos of everyone killed that day. If after everything that happened you can vote for the ideology that brought it about it's as if you are killing them yourself! Pictured below were David and Mary Lynn Angell who were killed on Flight 11 when it struck the North Tower. David who was 56 years old was very well known in Hollywood circles having won eight Emmys in a career where he was a writer on Cheers and helped co-produce both Frasier and Wings. He and his wife who was 52 years old were flying back from a vacation in Cape Cod to get back to Hollywood for the Emmy Awards in which he was nominated yet again. They were well known philanthropists and much beloved and I remember an article after the 9/11 attack in which it was noted that Kelsey Grammer was very distraught upon hearing they were on that flight. That year they were celebrating their 30th anniversary and to forget even a single person killed that day is a blasphemy!

There’s an affordability crisis in NC. It’s true. But the journalists and politicians aren’t being honest about WHY there’s an affordability crisis.

Allow me:

For most of my life North Carolina was a sleepy little place, mostly rural broken up by lovely small cities and towns.

Then the politicians decided we needed to be part of the “New South” and focus on bringing in new industries, AFTER they sold us down the river with policies like NAFTA that closed down our factories and mills.

Those new industries weren’t geared toward the local skill set and so they imported residents from other states and countries. It caused a population boom. A population boom that has gone on for nearly two decades.

Gentrification swept through our cities first. Locals couldn’t afford the taxes and rising cost of living. No one said a word. Not the politicians. Not the journalists.

Then it spread into the suburbs and rural areas. Still, silence.

Now the transplants can’t afford to live in the slums they’ve created and everyone loses their damn minds?

Cry me a river. 🙄
