A project was running late. One of the developers told me in tears that "he should have estimated better". There was a lot wrong with that project, and wrong estimates was the least of their problems.

This is the kind of dysfunction surrounding estimates that I rebel against.

Being a parent is exhausting, and I'm so ashamed to admit that I come into work on Mondays more exhausted than I left on Friday. I haven't felt "rested" in years.

I love my boys more than anything, I'd do anything for them, but fuck man, I'm tired.

@feliciaday Part of the Koch brothers playbook, cuz they think early 1900s is the ideal America with a Federal Gov't that does nothing for the peasants...

Major #hugops to our friends at GitHub.

And to the sarcastic jerks mocking techies working an outage, I hope someday you run a service people care about. If you do, if you ever have, you'll understand that at enough scale, nothing is trivial and downtime, like winter, is coming.

Spot the robot dog dancing to UpTown Funk is simultaneously both terrifying and hilarious.
