Tonight, the Russians struck Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities and communities. The largest number of missiles was directed at the capital – at ordinary residential buildings, at schools; they burned down a food market, one of Kyiv’s oldest markets. The Russian strike effectively destroyed the Chornobyl Museum, damaged the National Art Museum and the building housing the office of Germany’s ARD. As of now, 69 people have been reported injured in the capital. Tragically, two people were killed in this senseless Russian attack. My condolences to everyone who has lost family members and loved ones.
I have already spoken with the President of France and the Prime Minister of Norway. There will be further communication with our partners today. I am grateful to everyone who is not staying silent about what Russia is doing. They are waging war solely against our people – against our memory, our history, and everything that makes up normal human life. It is important that Russia understands that they will be held accountable for all these crimes.
Hellish night in Kyiv. Didn’t know if I’d wake up.
When there’s nothing on the battlefield, Russia wages war on market stalls and apartment blocks, murdering people in their sleep.

🇪🇺 Happy Europe Day!
For Ukrainians, Europe was never just about geography. It was always about an idea — dignity, freedom, democracy, and the right of nations to choose their future.
Today, Ukraine is defending more than itself. We are defending the values on which Europe was built. Freedom. Democracy. Human dignity. This is why Ukraine’s fight is also Europe’s fight.
A Europe that is secure, strong, and whole is impossible without Ukraine. Ukrainian resilience, innovation, battlefield experience, and technological adaptation are already shaping the future of European security. A strong Ukraine makes Europe stronger.
Ukraine is also contributing far beyond security — from global food supplies to Europe’s economic and energy resilience. This is not only about Ukraine joining Europe. It is about Europe seeing Ukraine as one of its strategic strengths.
We are grateful to our European partners for their solidarity and leadership. Unity is Europe’s greatest power and its key to shaping its own future in a rapidly changing world.
Today, Ukrainians know exactly what we are fighting for. For our freedom. For our future. For Europe.
Happy Europe Day — from the heart of Europe!
It's Europe Day!
Today, we celebrate all that Europe stands for.
And we celebrate all of us, the citizens of Europe.
Because all together, we are Europe.
Happy Europe Day!
40 years ago, the Chornobyl disaster shook the world. Today, the threat of another nuclear catastrophe is once again real.
Russia is deliberately targeting nuclear facilities in Ukraine, holding workers hostage, putting millions of lives at risk, and causing huge economic losses.
The international community must act together to protect people and the planet from another nuclear disaster that Russia is attempting to cause.
#Chornobyl40
Today we mark the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster – a tragedy that exposed the devastating consequences of lies, negligence, and disregard for human life by Soviet authorities. Its lessons reshaped global approaches to nuclear safety and remain a stark reminder of the responsibility that comes with nuclear power.
For Ukraine, Chornobyl is not only history. It is lived memory, sacrifice, and resilience. We honor the courage of those who contained the catastrophe and prevented even greater disaster, often at the cost of their own lives.
Four decades later, these lessons are being challenged again. Russia’s reckless actions – from the occupation of the Chornobyl site in 2022 to its ongoing militarization of nuclear facilities, for example occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and nuclear blackmail represent a direct threat to global security. Weaponizing nuclear risks is unacceptable and must be firmly opposed.
There can be no tolerance for nuclear coercion or terrorism. The international community must remain united in holding Russia accountable, strengthening nuclear safety, and ensuring that the tragedies of the past are never repeated.

Але темпи виробництва російських дронів кажуть нам, що треба ще.

Don’t look away, @la_Biennale. This is the ugly face of barbaric Russia—destroyed UNESCO World Heritage in the protected center of Lviv. This is the barbarism you wish to normalize at the Biennale. Get real!
Today is the birthday of Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861), a great 🇺🇦 artist and poet, a symbol of the struggle for independence and against russian imperialism. You probably heard about him at least once. Big thread about his life and art. 🧵
