Family Reunification of Unaccompanied Minors
Date: 30th October 2025
Location: Kyangwali refugee settlement
Yesterday, Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) through our Protection of Family Links (PFL) program in Kyangwali received five (05) unaccompanied minors from Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement to be reunited with their family members after successful tracing efforts.
The Child Protection Lead Partner in the settlement and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) witnessed the reunification exercise. It was a touching and emotional moment as parents shed tears of joy upon reuniting with their children after a long period of separation caused by armed conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR-Congo).
We remain committed to working with partners to promote child protection, family reunifications, and the overall well-being of children affected by displacement and conflict.

Uganda Red Cross Concludes Two-Day Orientation for Kampala Metropolitan RCATs Ahead of SOND Rainfall Season
Today, we concluded a two-day orientation for Red Cross Action Teams (RCATs) from across the Kampala Metropolitan area. Participants were drawn from the branches of Kampala East, West, North, South, Central, Mukono, Wakiso, and Entebbe.
The training focused on early warning systems, preparedness, and response strategies in anticipation of the September–December (SOND) rainfall season. RCATs were equipped with practical skills in search and rescue, safety, reporting, documentation, and effective communication ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver timely humanitarian assistance to communities that may be affected by seasonal hazards.
The orientation underscores Uganda Red Cross Society’s commitment to strengthening community resilience and enhancing disaster preparedness across the region.
