whenever they made it to his room , he had released her hand and held open the door for her to enter . he bowed his head at her .
" welcome . forgive me if this place isn't suited for you . "
despite everything , through a monotone voice , he spoke kindly .
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
' i am a hypocrite . '
he thought this to himself as he guided her to a small inn that served as his temporary place of residence . while his stride was confident and didn't break , his mind was filled with doubts about his actions , for he knew his own sins well .
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
did he think this would allow him to repent , even if he could help this girl ?
there were a couple of worrying glances as he guided sadako to his room .
out of concern for whatever condition she seemed to be afflicted with and to the man who marched like a bull .
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
the man furrowed his brows , but he didn't comment . he had no room to complain , and this was better than the possible alternative . indeed , anything but the alternative was superior. . .
" yes , that is fine . should i call you ' vanilla ' in that case ? "
⠀
⠀
odd. she knew better to push. silence was filled with a delicate sip from her cup; followed with the tap of metal against the edge of her teacup. her fingers drummed.
" Lavender it is then. "
⠀
⠀
he shook his head .
" you may call me whatever it is you want . to speak my name while we're in a tranquil state such as this would be a shame , and it is i who shouldn't be so impolite . that said , i don't believe i should give you my name . "
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
it would be unfair for him to grieve .
it was his fault .
he was the demon that caused such grief to exist .
nevertheless , in silence , he would guide sadako with intention to help in any way he could . he couldn't turn a blind eye to the state she was in .
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
on him appeared to be no symbol of faith , nor religion . he wasn't a father , nor was he even a practitioner . at this point , faith was a foreign concept . the dark garbs that he was clad in seemed militaristic , and his build would lend himself to that theory .

❛ ah ... ❜ nodding, knees straightened as she stood up to her feet —— barefoot; head cocked to one side as she caught sight https://t.co/QofE21IplX

⠀
no — what caused his hesitation was something else , something much more primal that existed in this forlorn husk that pretends to be a man : a sort of grief . deep and vast and endless .
although , he would never be able to convey such feelings . he couldn't .
⠀
⠀
@TWINSW0RD / / that's good, at the very least. there are a few murmasa accounts around, but most are fairly inactive at the moment, unfortunately. definitely give muramasa a read sometime, though!
⠀
⠀
there was a small bit of deliberation from kageaki as he remained silent despite her question . it didn't seem as if he was ignoring her ; rather , it was more that he was contemplating his answer .
" my name is not worth speaking . "
he spoke , bluntly .
⠀
⠀
she thought about questioning some of those words, but there was no reason to ruin a relaxing moment. instead, another hum.
" Care to share your name? " small talk.
⠀
⠀
surely. . . he could do this much , and it'd be okay .
" i'll take you somewhere to rest and fetch new clothes for you while we're there . can you still walk ? if not , i can carry you there . i have a room not far away from here . "
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
as he took her hand , he winced ever - so slightly and bit down on his lip . there was an air of melancholy that surrounded him , and there was almost even hesitation — as if he wanted to retract his hand .
nonetheless , he assured himself that this much was fine .
⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
he knew .
he knew all too well the feeling of fighting for one's own life down to tooth and nail , but still being unable to succeed . he didn't pity her for what she may have gone through . he didn't . yet. . . he couldn't ignore the desire to lend his aid .

paper ﹠ pen stuffed into her dress, hiding them; concealed hand reached outward in order to take his. sadako felt oddly at ease. https://t.co/QofE21IplX
