We all should pray more.

Why?

Because among other things, prayer is one of the primary ways we overcome anxiety and worry. And today we have something previous generations didn’t have—a constant stream of bad news in our pockets. Every time we pick up our phones we are reminded of something else that could make us anxious.

But the Bible gives us a very clear alternative to worry.

In Epistle to the Philippians chapter 4 we read:

“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6–7)

Some people say Christians are happy about war in the Middle East because we want to see Armageddon happen. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We want peace. In fact, the Bible specifically tells us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” Our desire is not conflict, but that people across the region would experience freedom—especially the freedom to worship God.

We pray for the people of Israel and the people of Iran alike—that there would be a genuine spiritual awakening and that many would come to Christ.

After all, so much of the history of the Bible unfolded in that very part of the world, and Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself will one day return to the Mount of Olives.

Let’s all do what Scripture calls us to do: pray—for peace, for freedom, and for hearts to turn to God.

The death of the Ayatollah has sent shockwaves through the Middle East. Many Iranians are rejoicing around the world, hoping this marks the end of decades of oppression.

This regime has backed terror groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and has persecuted its own people — including Christians. Yet despite intense opposition, Christianity has grown dramatically in Iran through house churches and underground believers. Persecution often fuels spiritual awakening.

Remember, modern-day Iran is ancient Persia — the land of Esther, Daniel, and King Cyrus, whom God called His “anointed” in Isaiah 45. God has worked in that nation before.

Are we seeing Bible prophecy unfold? Scripture tells us not to set dates, but to watch and be ready. Ezekiel 38 mentions Persia in a future coalition against Israel. Events like these shouldn’t cause panic — they should move us to prayer.

Pray for the Iranian people. Pray for Israel. Pray for peace. And pray that many come to Christ.
