Serious concern has been raised over the reported confrontation at Waphong Naga Hills, where personnel of the Assam Rifles were allegedly seen grabbing an elderly Naga woman by the neck and physically assaulting her during an interaction with peaceful Naga women. Such conduct against defenseless women is deeply disturbing and unacceptable.

The concerned authorities and police must immediately investigate the incident and take action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, particularly Section 74 (Assault or criminal force to a woman), Section 76 (Assault or criminal force to disrobe a woman), and Section 79 (Insulting the modesty of a woman).

Security forces are meant to protect citizens, especially women and children, not intimidate or assault them. Any such behavior is a serious violation of human dignity and human rights and must be dealt with firmly under the law.
