I have a group of five beta readers that I share 1-2 chapters with at a time. If they see an issue, I can address it vs wasting months. Told them "roast it if its garbage"

Woke up to a "I'm so in. When next chapter sir"
absolutely the greatest feeling to have friends like these.

@KristinaKing121 I'm on a third draft of a manuscript. I wrote the first one just to get the story out of me, second was more "thank God it's out. lets tweak this, what is it missing?"

Hopefully the third draft is what sticks (there will indeed be an eighth draft...probably)

@freeboostpromo I follow a 3-4 act structure, so I like broad plot points and at least it helps me stay a course, but I am guilty of imagining one plot point and going LETS SEE HOW WE CAN GET THERE

I went through 3 iterations of my main character before I gutted my magic system. I think the first draft he was a badass warrior trying to live around magic, then a mage using it, before I landed on a baker who wants to have some sort of adventure. Talk about a 180 lol

Yesterday I wrote 4k words for Chapter 3 draft. Reminded myself that cozy fantasy isn't just about magic and wonderful descriptions, and sometimes I need to take an extra paragraph (or three) to show a lil emotion. Nothing wrong with that!
