Calling care work "low skilled" is an insult. I have visited an old peoples home, seen the elderly needing 24/7 care, some with dementia, Alzheimer's, some paralysed from stroke, don't know where or who they are, don't know where to toilet. I couldn't do it. Neither could you

Well, you know, they did learn a few phrases of Hindustani when they ruled India. In the phrasebooks, all the sentences used the imperative form, commanding Indians to do this or that, 'the language of command.' Nothing more.

My parents came over in 60s unable to speak a word of English, still got the job done. Integrated hugely within the Westmoor community, Could barely string a sentence together in pure English, paid their taxes and loved by all.
This policy is racist dogwhistling not to mention classist. Poorer immigrants are hardworkers who DO WANT to learn English but lacked the education.

Migrants quite literally built this country. The NHS and care system would have collapsed several times over without them. Yet they are scapegoated by a xenophobic media which blames them for our problems instead of greed, exploitation and underinvestment - and the gov joins in.
