@AmonAlas @NathanielRSwain I had the /r/ not part of that syllable because I transcribed the e being long /e:/ so it can open an syllable :)

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

@NathanielRSwain You're right! Etymology of compliment comes from Latin 'complere' meaning to have an obligation to be polite! #lingphon16

@NathanielRSwain @plau_slp If it was broken up like this, with a long <i> would everything all be ok? ɪm. pɪə. ɹi:. əl. ɪz. əm

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

If advP is within the VP it'd drawn under the VP in the tree. But shouldn't the VP be the last/outer thing to write in a SPOCA? #lingphon16

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

An advP can be separate/not needed but in SPOCA does an advP always have to be within the VP? #lingphon16 (1/2)

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

@plau_slp yeah that's what I'm thinking! What do you think @NathanielRSwain ?

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

In the break up of imperialism doesn't a short vowel need a coda. So the 3rd syllable is not 'complete'? #lingphon16

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

Foot structure for <compliment> why is the syllable divided as comp-li and not com-pli? Aren't both com and pli allowed in AusE? #lingphon16

[Isabella Gomez @isabella_muollo]

Great, thanks for clarifying! @NathanielRSwain #LingPhon16
