Charlotte's brain tumour journey continuing to raise awareness of her 1997 – 2016
This is how Charlotte's brain tumour journey began, in her own words:
I started having headaches in April of 2013. I would have a few a week and they were annoying me. The headaches got so bad that I actually missed time off school. They were getting very repetitive. I visited the local doctor who said that the headaches were probably due to stress as I was going to be taking my GCSEs soon & I was so anxious. He gave me some Propranolol (beta blockers which slower your heart beat) to relax and calm me down. However the headaches were still there and becoming more frequent. My mum suggested that I made a log. I wrote down what the time was where the pain was and a rating out of ten. My log became very large. Headaches would usually start when I woke up and would last all day. We went back to the same doctor he said again he really thought it was just stress. I was naïve but after a while I knew there was something going on. I felt like I was being shown a sign. When I saw a couple of articles in the news of teenage girls dying because of undiagnosed brain tumours something clicked inside me. Reading these articles I was horrified. My heart started beating out of my chest and I became instantly anxious. Two trips later to the same doctor I was told that it was just anxiety….
