Hugo was right, yes. By being focused on being “the number one,” Isagi limited himself to doing things only a “number one” would do, and in this world, just like Fox said, “number ones” can make flashy plays thanks to their disgustingly unfair talent that translates into something you see on the pitch: speed of light, ambidexterity, extreme shooting precision, etc. Isagi was nerfing himself and wasn't doing what the game needed because this is who Isagi is: he does what the game needs on his way to crushing the best players. If he gets to score his own goal on top of that, he's taking that too. I fucking love seeing Isagi play freely! PEAK
