Rows upon rows of rusted tanks, artillery, and military vehicles - once belonging to Ethiopia’s arsenal - stretch across the landscape, a stark reminder of conflict and sacrifice. The sheer number and variety of equipment made it clear that external support played a role in the region’s wars. Yet the story that resonated most was not the hardware but the human determination behind the struggle. Learning that Eritreans prevailed in 1991 despite overwhelming odds left a deep impression on me. Agriculture Graduates Vow to Strengthen #Eritrea’s Food Security

#Condolences: Veteran freedom fighter and seasoned diplomat, Minister Semere Russom, has passed away at the age of 83 due to illness.

Btsai Semere joined the EPLF in 1976 and served his nation and people in various capacities with exemplary dedication and distinction for almost half a century.

During the liberation struggle, Btsai Semere served as a Representative of the EPLF's Foreign Relations Department, and later, Head of Intelligence Services in the EPLF Office in Khartoum.

After independence, Btsai Semere was appointed as the First Secretary of the Provisional Government of Eritrea (PGE) in Sudan from 1991-1992; Director General for the American Desk in the Foreign Office from 1993-1996; Eritrea's Ambassador to the US from 1997-2003; Governor of Central Region from 2003-2006; and Minister of Education from 2007 until 2025.

Minister Semere Russom was also appointed and simultaneously served as Eritrea's Ambassador to Ethiopia from 2018 - 2025.

Eritrean delegation led by Mr. Biniam Berhe, Chargé d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy in Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and UNECA, participated in the 20th Extraordinary Summit of the AU Assembly on Health held in Accra, Ghana, on 22 July under the theme “Advancing Justice, Equity, and Universal Health Coverage.”

The delegation shared #Eritrea’s experience in delivering equitable healthcare as a basic human right—provided free or at minimal cost—highlighting that 80% of the population now has access to services within 10 km of their homes, childhood vaccination coverage stands at 98%, and maternal and child mortality rates have significantly declined thanks to the vital role of community health representatives.

#Eritrea: Ministry of Foreign Affairs commemorated, in conjunction with the Africa Group (i.e. African Ambassadors accredited to Eritrea), Africa Day at Asmara Palace yesterday under the theme: "Africa: one heart, one land , one destiny".

Keynote Addresses by FM Osman Saleh and South Africa's Ambassador Mr. Perseverance Mbuzeli Kumsha.

Yesterday's event was preceded by various joint activities earlier in the week including panel discussion on "African Unity in the Changing Global Order", and, a football match between FM staff and a selected team from the African Embassies in Eritrea.

FM Osman underlined, among other matters:
*"...This year’s theme of the African Union is: 'Assuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063'. This theme is not only timely—it is foundational".
*"...It is essential to recognize that Africa is a rich continent endowed with precious natural resources; resources that can drive inclusive growth and sustainable development, provided that we manage them with integrity, discipline, and shared long-term vision".

*"...Africans are united in spirit. And now, more than ever, we must also be united in action - united in changing global realities and shaping a fairer world. Africa should earn its rightful place in the global arena, not through division, but through solidarity. We will no longer accept being left behind in international decisions. It is through unity that Africa can prosper politically and economically in this changing world order.... In conclusion, I wish to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of African unity, and to the shared mission of ensuring that every African - woman, man, child - can enjoy clean water, safe sanitation, and the dignity that comes with it".

Ambassador Kumsha, for his part, underlined:
"Africa Day is more than commemoration; it is a reaffirmation of our collective journey, that we are bound by a common destiny. This is a golden opportunity for us to conduct a continental introspection...we need smart partnership".

ኤርሚያስ ኣብርሃም (ወዲ ኢሞ)

ካብ ብስሙ ዝያዳ በታ ንስሙ ዘህሰሰት ሳጓኡ’ዩ ዝልለ። ውዑይ፡ ከምታ ዋዒኡ ድማ ኣዝዩ ንጡፍ። ኣብ ማእቶት ይሃሉ ኣብ ትምህርቲ ብረት ወላ ኣብ ጸወታ መትሓዚ ዘይብሉ ዋዒ’ዩ ዘለዎ። ንዋዒኡ ዘስተብሃሉ እዮም ድማ ሸገርገር እትብል ሳጓ ኣልጊቦምሉ። ሕጂ በዛ ሳጓኡ እንተ ዘይኮይኑ ብስሙ ዝፈልጦ ውሑድ’ዩ። ምሒር ዋዒኡ ዝረኣየ ጋሻ ኣብ ቁምነገር ዘለዎ ጉዳይ ክረኽቦ ኣይጽበን። እንተ ንዓይ ግዳ ኣብ ሓደ እዋን ብዘረባ ዘረባ ዝመጸ ዝሰንደወን ቃላት ንመዋእለይ ዝዝንግዐን ኣይኮናን።

መን ኣበጊስዋ ኣይፍለጥን’ዩ ግን ብዘረባ ዘረባ ኣብ ማእከል ሓንቲ ሕቶ ብኣረኣእያ ተገማሚዕና፡ ኣሃዱና። ‘ሃገር ምምጻእ’ዶ ይኸብድ ወላ ንሃገር ምሕላው፧’ እትብል ሕቶ ናብ ርሱን ክትዕ ወሲዳትና። ምናልባት እዛ ሕቶ ግርህ ኢልካ ክትሓስባ ከለኻ ምስታ ‘ደርሆ’ዶ እንቋቁሖ ይቕድም፧’ ክትመሳሰል ትኽእል ትኸውን፡ ግን ኣይራኸባን’የን።

መንእሰይ ኣብ ዝሃለወ ደረጃ ፍልጠትን ከባብን ይሃሉ፡ ህንጡይ እዩ። እዚ ከኣ ካብ’ቲ ውዑይ ዕድመ ምዃኑ ወይ ካብቲ ክገብር ኣለኒ ዝብል ድርኺት ናይቲ ዕድመ ክኸውን ይኽእል። ንዝኾነ ዘጋጥሞ ነገር ክስዕር ወይ ክሰግር እዩ ዝፍትን። እዚ ባህርያት መንእሰይ ድማ ዘድልዮ ኣልያ እንተ ዘይረኺቡ፡ ናብ ዘየርብሖ ኣንፈት ክወስዶ ዘይክእል ኣይኮነን። እዛ ‘ምምጽኣ’ዶ ምሕላዋ፧’ ኢላ ዝተበገሰት ሕቶ’ውን ርግእ ኢልካ መልሲ ክወሃባ እንተ ኮይኑ፡ እታ ‘መን’ዩ ሓታቲ፧’ እትብል ቀላል እትመስል ረዛን ሕቶ ኣቐዲማ መዕለቢ ክትረክብ ነይሩዋ።

ገለ ሰባት ነገራት ይሰርሑ ወይ ከም ዝገሃዱ ይገብሩ፡ ገለ ድማ ነገራት ክፍጸሙ ወይ ክገሃዱ ይዕዘቡ፡ ገለ ከኣ በቲ ዝተሰርሐ ይግረሙ ወይ ይድንጸዉ፡ ዝብል ዝውቱር ኣበሃህላ ኣሎ። ብርግጽ ድማ መንእሰይ ናይዛ ሃገር ኣብ ዝኾነ ወለዶ ይሃሉ ብዘየገድስ፡ ምስቶም ቀዳሞት እዩ ምድቡ። እዚ ንስለ ምጽባቕ ዘረባ ዝበሃል ከም ዘይኮነ ድማ ኣብ ዝሓለፈ መዋእላት ዝተሰርሐ ኣብ ዓለም መዳርግቲ ዘይብሉ ታሪኽ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ምልስ ኢልካ ምውካስ ኣኻሊ’ዩ። ቅያ ክሰርሕ እምበር ክንየትን ክጀሃርን ሕርያኡ ኣይኮነን፡ መንእሰይ ኤርትራ።

እቲ ውሩይ ስነ ፍልጠታዊ ኣልበርት ኣይነስታይን ሓደ እዋን ኣብ ሓደ መድረኽ ሓደ ሕቶ ቀረበሉ። እቲ ሕቶ ‘ካብ ፕላኔት መሬት ክሳብ ወርሒ ዘሎ ርሕቀት ክንደይ’ዩ፧’ ዝብል’ዩ ዝነበረ። ኣልበርት ኣይነስታይን በቲ ሕቶ ብዙሕ ከይተገደሰ ከም ዘይፈልጦ ሓበረ። እቶም ሕቶ ዘቕረቡሉ ግዳ ኣልበርት ኣይነስታይን ዝኣክል ሰብ ከመይ ገይሩ ነዚ ዝኾነ “ሕማቕ ተመሃራይ” እኳ ዝምልሶ ተራ ሕቶ ምምላሱ ስኢኑ ምሒር ደንጸዎም። ደጊሞም ድማ ንምንታይ ክፈልጦ ኣይከኣለን ተወከስዎ። እዚ ኣብ ሂወቱ ብዙሕ ስነ ፍልጠታዊ ምርምራት ዘካየደን ኣብ ስነ ፍልጠት ዓቢ ስም ዘለዎን ኣልበርት ዝሃቦም መልሲ ድማ፡ ‘እዚ ንድኹማት ሓንጎል እዩ ዘገድስ’ (It’s for petty minds) ዝብል’ዩ ነይሩ።

ልክዕ ከምዛ ናይ ኣልበርት ኣይነስታይን እትመሳሰል ሓንቲ ዕላል ናይ ዋርሳይ ኣላ። ኣብ ምህናጽ ሃገርን ምኽባር ልኡላውነትን ብንጥፈት ዝተሳተፈ መንእሰይ’ዩ። ድሕሪ እቲ ኩሉ ዝሓለፎ መስርሕ ሂወት ብዛዕባ ትርጉምን ትንታነን ናይቲ ሂወት’ቲ ኣመልኪቱ ገለ ክጽሕፍ ወይ ብጽሑፍ ክስንድ ኢሉ ተበገሰ። እቲ ኣብ ልቢ ወለዳዊ ስርሓት ጽቡቕ ዝሓናጥጥ ዝነበረ መንእሰይ ዝሓለፎ ጉዕዞ ሂወት ብቐሊል ኣብ ጽሑፍ ከስፍሮ ከም ዝኽእል’ዩ ግምት ነይሩዎ። ኣብ ግብሪ ግዳ እቲ ብዕላል ናይ ብጾቱ ዝሰምዖስ ይትረፍ፡ ነቲ ባዕሉ ዝሓለፎ ከማን ክጽሕፎ ኣጸገሞ። በቲ እንተበለ በዚ ነቲ መዘና ዘይርከቦ ገዚፍ ታሪኽ ኣብ ምስናዱ ክስጉም ኣይከኣለን። ነዚ ጸገሙ ኣመልኪቱ ድማ ምስ ሓደ ብጻዩ ተመያየጠ። ኩሉ ዘጋጠሞ ዘርዚሩ ነዚ ብጻዩ ገለጸሉ። እቲ ናይ ጸሓፊ ብጻዩ ጸገም ብጽሞና ዝሰምዐ መንእሰይ ግን ብዙሕ ኣይተገረመን። እኳ ደኣ ብኣንጻሩ፡

“እዚ’ሞ እንታይ ኮይኑ ይገርመካ፧” ክብል’ዩ ሓቲትዎ።
“ከመይ፧”
“ዘገርም ኣይኮነን።”
“ንዝወዓልክዎ ምጽሓፍ ስኢነ’ኳ’የ ዝብለካ ዘለኹ።”

“ንዝኾነ ስራሕ ሰራሕቱ፡ ነቲ ስራሕ ክስራሕ ዝዕዘቡን በቲ ስራሕ ዝግረሙን ዘዳምቑ ወይ ዘስተናዕቑ ከም ዘለውዎ ርዱእ’ዩ። ንስኻ ድማ ንተወፋይነት ብግብሪ ኢኻ ትነብሮ ዘለኻ። ነቲ ክንዲ ግዛዕ ዝኸውን ህላወ ናይ ብዓል ኒሕ፡ ትብዓት ፍቕሪ ይኹን ካልኦት ክብርታትን ልምድታትን መግለጺኦም ዝኸውን ቃላት ስኢነ ክትብለኒ ኣየገርምን’ዩ። እቲ ከገርም ዝግብኦ ብምልኣት ክገልጾ ክኢለ እንተ ትብለኒ እዩ ዝኸውን። ምኽንያቱ፡ ብግብሪ እምበር ብቓላት ዝድህሰሱ ስለ ዘይኮኑ።”፡ ክብል ኣብርሃሉ።

እዚ ዋርሳይ’ውን ብዓቢኡ ንተወፋይነት እናነበሮ፡ ንትብዓት እናስተንፈሶ፡ ንኒሕን ሓቦ ምግባርን ኣብ ደሙ እናጸወረ፡ ብዓቢኡ ንስለ ህዝቡን መሬቱን ክስዋእ እናተዳለወ. . . . ብፊደላት ቃላት ሰሪዑ ስለ ዘይገለጾ ገለ ዝጎደሎ ኮይኑ ተሰሚዕዎስ ተሰኪፉ።

ናብ መበገሲ ዛዕባና ዝኾነ ኣርእስቲ፡ ‘ንሞት ዘይፈራሕናስ. . . ’ ምስ እንምለስ እምበኣር ቃል ብቓል ናይ ሸገርገር ዘረባ እዩ። ነቲ ሃገር ኣብ ምህናጽን ምውሓስን ዝተሓልፈ ዘኪሩ ነቲ ድሒሩ ዝሰዓበ ኩነታት ኣብ ምውድዳር እዩ ነዘን ቃላት ኣውጺኡወን። ‘ሞት ክንመውት ዘይፈራሕናስ ንክንነብር እንታይ የጸግመና፧’፡ እዩ ዝበለ እዚ ወራሲ ሕድሪ መንእሰይ። ከምቲ ኣቐድም ኣቢሉ ዝተገልጸ ድማ ‘ካብ ምንባርን ሙማትን ኣየናዮም እዩ ዝኸብድ፧’፡ ዝብል ሕቶ ከነልዕል ግድን ኮይኑና።

እዚ ሕቶ ከም ዝእምቶ ብሂወት ምህላውን ወይ ብሂወት ዘይምህላው (ሞት)ን ምስ እነወዳድር’ሞ ኣየናይ ይኸብድ፧ ኢልና ከም ሕቶ ምስ ንሓትት፡ ክሕተት’ውን ዘይግብኦ ናይ በሃማት ጥያቐ’ዩ ዝመስል። ምኽንያቱ ብሂወት ምህላው ብዓቢኡ ምስትንፋስ ማለት ክኸውን እንከሎ ሞት ግን ወላ ሓንቲ ዘይብሉ ደውታ’ዩ። ስለዚ ከምቲ ተዛረብቲ ዝብልዎ መይቱ ነይሩ ዝተመልሰ ስለ ዘየለ ብሸነኽ ሞት ዝፍለጥ ወይ ዝድህሰስ ነገር የለን። ሽዑ እቲ ምውድዳር ሞትን ምንባርን ፍሩስ ንምግባሩ ይቐልል። እዚ ዝበልናዮ ከም ዘለዎ እናሃለወ ናይ መንእሰያት ኤርትራ ምስ ሞት ምፍጣጥን ንሞት ቀቢርካ ሪምካ ምውሓስን ጉዕዞ፡ ኣብተን ቃላት ሸገርገር ዘይተሳእላኒ ኣይኮናን። ‘ንክንመውት ዘይፈራሕና. . . ’ ።

ናጽነት ንምምጻእ ወፊሩ ምስ ብዙሕ ገጻትን መልክዓትን ሞት መዓልታዊ ፊተፊት ተጋጢሙ፡ ተጋጢሙ ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ እናተሸራረፈ ንሞት ስዒሩስ ዕላማኡ ዝጨበጠ ሰብ ነይሩ። ኣብቲ ግጥም’ቲ ድማ ካብ ሞት ምፍራህ እቲ ዝለዓለ ነውሪ ናይ ዘመነ-ገድሊ ምንባሩ ዘይርሳዕ’ዩ። እዚ ተጋዳላይ ዝስመ ፍጡር ከኣ ንሞት ስዒሩ ክሰርርን ሃገር ክኸውንን ዓለም ዝመስከረትሉ እዩ።

ሕድሪ ኣቦታቱን ኣያታቱን ዝወረሰ ዝሰዓበ መንእሰይ ወለዶ ድማ ዝተረከባ ሃገር ከልምዕን ከውሕስን ምስ ብዙሕ ዓይነታት ሞት ክጋጠም ተገዲዱ። ግን ከኣ ገጢሙስ ንሞት ኣሰኒፉ ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ ዝተረከቦ ሕድሩ’ውን ኣጽኒዑ። እታ ‘ንሞት ዘይፈራሕናስ. . . ’ እትብል ዘረባ ከኣ መንእሰይ ኤርትራ ንሞት ከም ዝሰዓረ ዓባይ ምስክር’ያ። ሕጂ እምበኣር ናብታ ‘ሞት’ዶ ይኸብድ ህላወ፧’ እትብል ሕቶ ኢና ክንሰግር። ቅድሚኣ ግን ግዳ ሓንቲ ካልእ ስግር ዝበልናያ ሕቶ ኣላ። ኣቐዲመ ኣብ ዕላል ምስ ደቂ ኣሃዱና ‘ሃገር ምምጻእ’ዶ ይኸብድ ወላ ንሃገር ምሕላው፧’ ኢልና ናብ ዲቕ ዝበለ ክትዕ ኣቲና ምንባርና እዝክር።

‘ምምጻእ’ ክበሃል እንከሎ ንሓደ ዘይነበረ ነገር ናብ ህላወ ከተግህዶ ከለኻ ኮይኑ እስመዓኒ። ኣብዚ ዘልዓልናዮ ኣርእስቲ ንኣብነት ከም ሃገርን ህዝብን ክንህሉ ኣብ ዘይተደለናሉ እዋን፡ ንኩሉ መሰናኽላት ሰጊርካ ሃገር ምዃን ቀዳማይ ናይ ሂወት ሸቶ ኮይኑ ተቐሚጡ። ሽዑ ድማ ንቕሓት ውዳበን ዕጥቅን ነታ ንኽትህልወና ዘይተደልየት ሃገርን ናጽነትን ብኣንጻር ድሌት ዓመጽቲ ናብ ጋህዲ ክዉንነት ኣምጺኡ። እዚ ድማ በቲ ንሞት ዘስዕር ንቕሓት፡ ንሞት ዘስተናዕቕ ውዳበን ንሞት ዝቐበረ ዕጥቂ እምነትን ኣቢሉ ክዉን ኮይኑ።

በቲ ካልእ ሸነኽ ድማ ምሕላው እዩ ዝህሉ። ‘ምሕላው’ ወይ ‘ምውሓስ’ ክንብል እንከለና፡ ንዘለካ ጸጋ ወይ ንብረት ምክንኻን ማለት’ዩ መስለኒ። ነቲ ጸጋኻ ከይበላሾ፡ ከይዓኑ ወይ ብዓቢኡ ካልኦት ዝበሃግዎ ከይወስዱልካ ክትጥንቀቐሉ ከለኻ ማለት’ዩ። ሃገርና ሃገር ኮይና ክትቅጽል ጥራሕ ዘይኮነስ ምዕብልትን ሕፍርትን ንምግባራ ክንሕልዋን ከነውሕሳን ግዲ ኮይኑና። እምበኣር ብኽልቲኡ መንጽር ዘሎ ካብ ተረዳእናዮ፡ እቲ ‘ኣየናይ ይኸብድ፧’ ዝብል ሕቶ’ዩ ዝስዕብ።

ኣብዚ ሓደ እዋን እቲ ዓቢ መምህር ዝበሎ ክጠቅስ። ሓደ ዝነብረሉ መንበሪ ገዛ ዘይነበሮ ሰብ ነይሩ። እዚ ሰብ ምስ ባህርን ተፈጥሮኣዊ ጸገማትን ተቓሊሱ ንመንበሪኡ ዝኸውን ግሩም ቤት ሃነጸ። ነቲ ቅድሚ መንበሪ ምውናኑ ዘሕለፎ ሕሰም ድማ ከም ናይ ሕሉፍ ታሪኽ ሰጊርዎ ቀሰነ። ምስቶም ካልኦት ቅድሚኡ ነናቶም መንበሪ ዝወነኑ ሰባት ድማ ተመዓራረየ። ድሕሪ ገለ እዋን ከኣ ካብቶም ካልኦት መሰልቱ ማለት ወነንቲ መንበሪ ኣባይቲ ‘ምኽርታት’ ክመጽኦ ይጅምር። ‘እቲ መደቀሲ ክፍሊ ብሽነኽ ምብራቕ ገይርካ ክሽነ ብደቡብ ምስ እትገብሮ. . . . መቐበሊ ኣጋይሽካ ልዕሊ ኩሉ ክምዕርግ ኣለዎ. . . ’፡ ዝኣመሰሉ ምኽርታት ዝመስሉ ትእዛዛት ይመጽእዎ። ግደ ሓቂ ብዓቢኡ መንበሪ ቤት’ኳ ብናቱ ውልቃዊ ዓቕሚ ተጣቢቡ ዝሃነጸስ መደቀስን ክሽነን በየን በየን ንምድኳኖም ከመይ ኢሉ ከጸግሞ፧!

እታ ‘ኣየናዮም ይኸብድ፧’ ኢልና ዘልዓልናያ ሕቶ እምበኣር ሃገር ብዓባያ’ኳ ኣብ ዘይውጻእን ዘይውዳእን ዝመስል መስገደላት ኣቲና ክዉንቲ ክንገብራ ዝኸኣልናስ፡ ንምሕላዋን ምውሓሳን ደኣ እንታይ ከየጸግመና፧! እቲ ሃገርን ናጽነትን ከምጽእን ከግህድን ዝወፈረ መንእሰይ ሓጋዝን መኻርን ወይ ዘራይ ኣይተጸበየን፣ ዝርከብ’ውን ኣይነበረን። እቲ ምንታይሲ ዓለም እዛ ዓለምና ንኽጠፍእ እምበር ክሰርር ኣይደለየቶን ነይራ። ስለዚ ዝዓበየ ሕቶ ከም ሃገር ምህላው ኮይኑ፡ ሃገር ኴንካ ምቕጻል ከኣ ስዒቡ ዝመጽእ ዕማም’ዩ ዝኸውን።

ሃገር ምውሓስን ምሕላውን ድሕሪ ሃገር ምምጻእ’ዩ ዝስራዕ ክበሃል እንከሎ ግዳ፡ ቀሊል ማለት ኣይኮነን። ብቐንዱ ኣብ ዕላማኻ ምጽናዕ፡ ንርሑቕ ምምዕዳውን ብተስፋ ከየባተኽካ ምዕያይን የድሊ። ካብ ንነብስኻ ንህዝብኻ ምቕዳም ይደሊ። ‘ከምዝን ከምትን ገይረ፧’ ዘይኮነ፡ ‘እንታይ ኣሎ ዝተረፈኒ፧’ ኢልካ ምትጋህ የድልዮ። ትማሊ ንሞት ስዒርካ ሂወት ኣእላፋት ምልቃብን ምውሓስን ብግብሪ እንተደኣ ተኻዊኑ፡ ንጽባሕን ድሕሪኡን ዝበረኸ ጫፍ ንምብጻሕ ምንቃሕ የገድስ።

‘ንሞት ክንመውት ዘይፈራሕናስ ንኽንነብር እንታይ የጸግመና፧’ ዝብላ ቃላት ሸገርገር እምበኣር ድሕሪ ንሞት ስዒሩ ብዓወት ምውጽኡ፡ ነቲ ናይ ኣይ ሰላም ኣይ ኲናት ሃዋህው ምስጋሩ ከም ዘይሽገር እየን ዘተንብሃ ነይረን፣ ሰጊርዎ ድማ። መንእሰይ ወለዶ ናይዛ ሃገር ንዝኾነ እንተታት ወትሩ ምስ ተዳለወ’ዩ። ምድላው ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ ድማ ኣብ ኩሉ ዓውድታት ብዓወት ፈንጢሱ ይወጽእ። ንቕሓቱ ኣበሪኹን ብውዳበኡ ደልዲሉን ኣብ ኩሉ ይዓጥቕ። ትማሊ ንስለ ሃገርን ህዝብን ክሳዕ ሂወቱ ምሃብ ዝተወፈየ መንእሰይ፡ ንልምዓትን ብልጽግናን ሪሙ ከመይ ኣብ ቅድሚት ዘይስለፍ። ሳላ ዝጸንዐ እንደኣሉ ውሕስነቱ ዓቂቡ፣ ከም ሃገርን ህዝብን ቀጻልነቱን ርግኣተ ሰላሙን ኣድሚቑ።

Mr Salih Abdella, the Guest of Honour, reminded the attendees that it is the responsibility of each Eritrean to support the families of those who were martyred in the fight for Eritrea's liberation, as well as those who gave their lives defending the country. He stated that the prevailing peace and stability in Eritrea is the result of the significant sacrifices made and stressed that every citizen has a duty to assist the children and families of martyrs. Mr Abdella also called for increased participation by Eritreans in the country's development activities. In his final remarks, he emphasised that honouring our martyrs goes beyond lighting candles and planting trees; it is about building the nation for which they paid the ultimate price. He noted that Martyrs Day is an occasion for the Eritrean people to commemorate their fallen heroes with pride and dignity, asserting that supporting martyrs’ families is a collective responsibility shared by both the government and the public.
