I visited the Lake Chad region of Borno around 1998. While there, I saw fishermen beating a man. His crime? He was catching the small fish instead of going deep into the lake to fish big mature fish. I was surprised. 'What is wrong with that?' I asked. They told me that if they catch the young fish, they will not grow and give birth to new fish, and the cycle of life will end, and there will be no fish in the lake in the future.

They have been fishing in those waters for centuries. Therefore, learn from their ancient wisdom.

Avoid early over-generosity. Wait until your business and investments grow big enough before you start being generous to friends and family. If you allow them to overfish you when you are tender, you will soon have nothing to render. And those who put you asunder may not bother to help you recover.

Do not be too generous when you are a small fish. If you do, you may destroy yourself, meaning you will never become a big fish.

It will not just affect you. It will affect your cycle of life. Your children will be affected. And those who overfished you will laugh at you when they end their offspring overtake you and your lineage!
