Russia struck Kharkiv with guided bombs, targeting a historic architectural landmark—the first Soviet skyscraper, the Derzhprom Building. Completed in 1928, Derzhprom was the largest single structure in the world at the time.

Before retreating in August 1943, during the so-called "cleansing" of Kharkiv, German forces planted explosives in Derzhprom, as they did in many other buildings across the city. However, a mysterious patriot prevented the explosion.

It survived the German occupation, but now, nearly 80 years later, Russia shows no regard and is destroying everything in its path.
